Adam got his first BJG win in 2024 at The Pretenders. Next, Adam became the 2025 BJG Champion of the World. Adam can now claim a BJG Major win in 2026, and not at a moment too soon, as he was sitting at the 13th spot.
The day started as some BJG golf days start… with someone bailing at the last minute. This one was a little odd because the message came as a group text from Stephen at 3:40 AM. Stephen says his back hurts and wishes us the best of luck.
Fortunately for me, I was already up, reviewing my strategy for Cold Springs. But I am sure that the rest of you were not so lucky. I cannot imagine being sound asleep, only to be awoken at 3:40 AM with a text.
That now means that we have four golfers out and we only need three tee times. I wait until 5:00 AM to reset the groupings in a group text.
When I get to the golf course, it is foggy and cold. Colder than I had expected. I tell the guy behind the desk that I only need three tee times, and he doesn’t even blink. He takes away our first tee time, makes a call, and fills it in seconds.
The other surprise waiting for everyone was that EJ was walking Cold Spring CC. Yes, I tried to talk him out of it, but I did not have much luck.
I found out while on the putting green that there had been a Scramble the day before that STEPHEN had played in. The new theory is that Stephen got trashed at the Scramble and when he woke up at 3:15 AM, he realized he wasn't going to make it to Belchertown.
As EJ would say, “more free points”. First place would now be worth 101 Points, and last place would receive 35 Points. That’s not bad for just showing up and playing golf.
Cold Spring CC is a beautiful and challenging golf course, but again, the online price of $70 was not the price I was charged, which was $73. That is a lot of money for crappy carts and no bar or restaurant, which they have not had for a few years.

Front Nine:
1st Place: Iron Mike – 33 (38)
2nd Place: Joe A – 34 (40)
3rd Place: Magic Mike – 36
3rd Place: EJ – 36 (50)
5th Place: Adam – 37 (41)
5th Place: Matt – 37 (47)
7th Place: Joe – 39 (50)
7th Place: Rob – 39 (47)
9th Place: Rey – 40 (49)
10th Place: Joe V – 41 (46)
11th Place: Joe T – 43 (54)
12th Place: JT – 44 (51)
Iron Mike plays the front at 3 under par, but Joe A is on his heels. The rest of the scores are tight with ties for 3rd, 5th, and 7th place. EJ shoots Par while walking. I started thinking about walking too.
Rob thought he saw “Mary Poppins” on the 4th Hole.

The 8th Hole was the easiest at just over Par. Holes 2 and 7 were the hardest, playing at almost 2 strokes over Par.
As a Group, we shot 40 (49).
Back Nine:
1st Place: Adam – 35 (40)
1st Place: Matt – 35 (40)
1st Place: Joe T – 35 (47)
4th Place: Rob – 36 (44)
5th Place: Joe V – 37 (42)
6th Place: Magic Mike – 38 (45)
7th Place: Joe – 39 (50)
8th Place: Iron Mike – 41 (46)
8th Place: Joe A – 41 (47)
10th Place: Rey – 43 (53)
11th Place: EJ – 45 (60)
12Th Place: JT – 49 (57)
Adam, Matt, and Joe T tame the back nine by playing Par golf. Rob and Joe V play better golf. Joe plays the same mediocre golf that he played on the front.
Iron Mike, Joe A, and EJ suffered a back-nine collapse. Rey and JT have had a tough day, but we have all been there before.
The 15th & 16th Holes played the easiest at just over Par. The 10th Hole played the hardest at almost 2.5 strokes over Par.
As a Group, we shot another 40 (50) for a final score of 80 (99).
Final Score:
1st Place: Adam – 72 (81)
1st Place: Matt – 72 (93)
3rd Place: Iron Mike – 74 (84)
3rd Place: Magic Mike – 74 (88)
5th Place: Rob – 75 (91)
5th Place: Joe A – 75 (87)
7th Place: Joe – 78 (100)
7th Place: Joe T – 78 (101)
7th Place: Joe V – 78 (88)
10th Place: EJ – 81 (110)
11th Place: Rey – 83 (102)
12Th Place: JT – 93 (108)
Once again, we have a bunch of ties, this time including a tie for first place. We borrowed putters for the clubhouse and moved to the putting green. After some conversation, we figured out what we were doing and set up the putt-off.
It was close, but Adam came out victorious.

Once again, congratulations to Adam for bringing yet another BJG trophy to the house.

Also, a big shout-out to EJ for completing his first walkabout and doing it at Cold Spring CC.
Respectfully,
