I knew the week leading up to the Drive, Chip & Putt Competition and the Championship of the World would be hectic because of the multiple events, and it was the first time trying to do something like this.

On Friday, I got a text from Joe A saying he would not be able to attend this event because he had to attend a funeral.

Next, I heard from Iron Mike; he too could not make this event because he has some issues he needs to deal with in Pittsfield.

Joe A, we are sorry for your loss, and Iron Mike, we hope everything is ok.

Joe T, Dustin, Joe V, and JT were already scheduled to miss these events.

We are now down to 9 golfers, so points will be at a premium.

We only had one golfer go to the wrong location, so I’m thinking we are doing pretty well so far. EJ sets up the launch monitor, and I get a bucket of balls. It’s hot already.

Drive, Chip & Putt Competition:

DRIVE:

1^st Place: Adam – 292

2^nd Place: Magic Mike – 277

3^rd Place: Rob – 266

4^th Place: Rey – 262

5^th Place: James – 260

6^th Place: EJ – 257

I don’t think anyone was surprised that Adam hit his drive 292 yards.

CHIP:

1^st Place: James – 7 ft

2^nd Place: Joe – 10 Ft

3^rd Place: EJ – 13 Ft

4^th Place: Magic Mike – 16 Ft

5^th Place: Adam – 17 Ft

6^th Place: Rey – 24 Ft

7^th Place: Rob – 25 Ft

8^th Place – Stephen – 45 Ft

9^th Place: Matt – 96 Ft

These distances were interesting; some close and some far.

PUTT:

1^st Place: Adam – 39

2^nd Place: Magic Mike – 41

3^rd Place: Joe – 45

5^th Place: Stephen – 50

I’ll be honest with you, I thought Joe and Rob would win the Putting with a score of 2 over Par - 45. Nope, not even close; Adam goes 4 under Par, and Magic Mike was right behind him at 2 under Par.

I do think everyone had a good time with the different events.

1^st Place: Adam – 18 Points

Championship of the World

By the time Group Three arrives at Pine Knoll Par 3, Group Two is still waiting on the first tee box, and I don’t know what is going on with the seven people on the 2^nd tee box.

From what I understand, there were 4 kids behind Group One when one of the kids hit Magic Mike with a golf ball. I guess Group One thought it would be safer if the kids went first. This could be a long day.

By the 5^th Hole, the kids have decided to let BJG play through…

Front Nine:

1^st Place: Adam – 27 (28)

1^st Place: Joe – 27 (30)

1^st Place: Magic Mike – 27 (29)

4^th Place: EJ – 29 (32)

At the end of nine, Adam and Magic Mike are fighting it out again, with Joe also in the mix. Stephen is having a tough day, but he can still win the 18^th hole and become the Champion of the WORLD.

Back Nine:

1^st Place: Rey – 30 (33)

4^th Place: EJ – 36 (40)

4^th Place: Rob – 36 (38)

It is HOT... Adam and Magic Mike continue their battle throughout the back nine. This time it is Rey that is in the mix.

Joe falls hard after losing 3 balls over the last 4 holes; 2 of those balls were on the 17^th hole.

18^th Hole: Adam, Rey & Rob each scored Par on the 18th hole, so they go back and try again.

Rob does a repeat of 2024 and defeats Adam and Rey with a par, compared to their 5s.

COTW Final Score:

1^st Place: Adam – 57 (59)

1^st Place: Magic Mike – 57 (61)

3^rd Place: Rey – 62 (67)

4^th Place: EJ – 65 (72)

We also have a tie for first place between Adam and Magic Mike. I sent them to the 12^th hole to battle it out.

Adam scored a birdie to Magic’s Par to win the COTW Trophy.

1^st Place: Adam – 36 (35 + 1 for lowest score)

2^nd Place: Magic Mike – 33

3^rd Place: Rey – 31

4^th Place: EJ – 29

5^th Place: Rob – 28 (27 + 2 for winning COTW)

6^th Place: Joe – 25

Magic Mike may have lost out on the extra point for the best score, but he once again won another Closest to the Pin.

Afterward, we gathered in the parking lot for a couple of beers, some chips, and to talk about the day. I think everyone had a good time, and we ended about 2:15 pm.

I thought there would be more movement on the leaderboard, but that did not happen. What did happen was that the Points got A LOT tighter.

Matt remains at the top of the leaderboard, but there are just 14.5 points between 1^st and 2^nd Place. There are just 20 points separating 3^rd and 7^th Place. And we have a new battle near the bottom of the leaderboard. JT is in 11th Place, but Stephen, who is the Gatekeeper at the 12th spot, is just 2.3 points from 11^th. Joe T finds himself on the outside looking in at 13^thplace, but he is just 8.7 points from 12th.
