I knew the week leading up to the Drive, Chip & Putt Competition and the Championship of the World would be hectic because of the multiple events, and it was the first time trying to do something like this.
On Friday, I got a text from Joe A saying he would not be able to attend this event because he had to attend a funeral.
Next, I heard from Iron Mike; he too could not make this event because he has some issues he needs to deal with in Pittsfield.
Joe A, we are sorry for your loss, and Iron Mike, we hope everything is ok.
Joe T, Dustin, Joe V, and JT were already scheduled to miss these events.
We are now down to 9 golfers, so points will be at a premium.
We only had one golfer go to the wrong location, so I’m thinking we are doing pretty well so far. EJ sets up the launch monitor, and I get a bucket of balls. It’s hot already.
Drive, Chip & Putt Competition:
DRIVE:
1st Place: Adam – 292
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 277
3rd Place: Rob – 266
4th Place: Rey – 262
5th Place: James – 260
6th Place: EJ – 257
7th Place: Stephen – 247
8th Place: Matt - 215
9th Place: Joe – 212
I don’t think anyone was surprised that Adam hit his drive 292 yards.
CHIP:
1st Place: James – 7 ft
2nd Place: Joe – 10 Ft
3rd Place: EJ – 13 Ft
4th Place: Magic Mike – 16 Ft
5th Place: Adam – 17 Ft
6th Place: Rey – 24 Ft
7th Place: Rob – 25 Ft
8th Place – Stephen – 45 Ft
9th Place: Matt – 96 Ft
These distances were interesting; some close and some far.
PUTT:
1st Place: Adam – 39
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 41
3rd Place: Joe – 45
3rd Place: Rob – 45
5th Place: Matt – 50
5th Place: James – 50
5th Place: Stephen – 50
8th Place: EJ – 52
8th Place – Rey – 52

I’ll be honest with you, I thought Joe and Rob would win the Putting with a score of 2 over Par - 45. Nope, not even close; Adam goes 4 under Par, and Magic Mike was right behind him at 2 under Par.
I do think everyone had a good time with the different events.
Drive, Chip & Putt Points
1st Place: Adam – 18 Points
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 17 Points
3rd Place: James – 16 Points
4th Place: Rob – 14 Points
5th Place: Joe – 13 Points
6th Place: EJ – 12 Points
7th Place: Rey – 11 Points

Championship of the World
By the time Group Three arrives at Pine Knoll Par 3, Group Two is still waiting on the first tee box, and I don’t know what is going on with the seven people on the 2nd tee box.
From what I understand, there were 4 kids behind Group One when one of the kids hit Magic Mike with a golf ball. I guess Group One thought it would be safer if the kids went first. This could be a long day.

By the 5th Hole, the kids have decided to let BJG play through…

Front Nine:
1st Place: Adam – 27 (28)
1st Place: Joe – 27 (30)
1st Place: Magic Mike – 27 (29)
4th Place: EJ – 29 (32)
5th Place: Rob – 30 (32)
6th Place: Rey – 32 (34)
6th Place: James – 32 (34)
8th Place: Matt – 33 (36)
9th Place: Stephen – 41 (43)
At the end of nine, Adam and Magic Mike are fighting it out again, with Joe also in the mix. Stephen is having a tough day, but he can still win the 18th hole and become the Champion of the WORLD.
Back Nine:
1st Place: Adam – 30 (31)
1st Place: Magic Mike – 30 (32)
1st Place: Rey – 30 (33)
4th Place: EJ – 36 (40)
4th Place: Rob – 36 (38)
6th Place: Stephen – 37 (40)
7th Place: James – 39 (41)
8th Place: Joe – 40 (43)
9th Place: Matt – 41 (44)
It is HOT... Adam and Magic Mike continue their battle throughout the back nine. This time it is Rey that is in the mix.
Joe falls hard after losing 3 balls over the last 4 holes; 2 of those balls were on the 17th hole.
18th Hole: Adam, Rey & Rob each scored Par on the 18th hole, so they go back and try again.

Rob does a repeat of 2024 and defeats Adam and Rey with a par, compared to their 5s.

COTW Final Score:
1st Place: Adam – 57 (59)
1st Place: Magic Mike – 57 (61)
3rd Place: Rey – 62 (67)
4th Place: EJ – 65 (72)
5th Place: Rob – 66 (70)
6th Place: Joe – 67 (73)
7th Place: James – 71 (75)
8th Place: Matt – 74 (80)
9th Place: Stephen – 78 (83)
We also have a tie for first place between Adam and Magic Mike. I sent them to the 12th hole to battle it out.

Adam scored a birdie to Magic’s Par to win the COTW Trophy.

COTW Points:
1st Place: Adam – 36 (35 + 1 for lowest score)
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 33
3rd Place: Rey – 31
4th Place: EJ – 29
5th Place: Rob – 28 (27 + 2 for winning COTW)
6th Place: Joe – 25
7th Place: James – 22
8th Place: Matt – 20
9th Place: Stephen – 18
Magic Mike may have lost out on the extra point for the best score, but he once again won another Closest to the Pin.

Afterward, we gathered in the parking lot for a couple of beers, some chips, and to talk about the day. I think everyone had a good time, and we ended about 2:15 pm.
Race to Big Y (Dubai) Leaderboard
1st Place: Matt – 277 Points
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 262.5 Points
3rd Place: Adam – 231 Points
4th Place: Iron Mike – 220.5 Points
5th Place: Joe A – 215 Points
6th Place: Joe – 214.5 Points
7th Place: Rob – 211 Points
8th Place: Rey – 199.3 Points
9th Place: James – 188 Points
10th Place: EJ – 170 Points

12th Place: Stephen – 147 Points
13th Place: Joe T – 138.3 Points
14th Place: Joe V – 92 Points
15th Place: Dustin – 61 Points
I thought there would be more movement on the leaderboard, but that did not happen. What did happen was that the Points got A LOT tighter.
Matt remains at the top of the leaderboard, but there are just 14.5 points between 1st and 2nd Place. There are just 20 points separating 3rd and 7th Place. And we have a new battle near the bottom of the leaderboard. JT is in 11th Place, but Stephen, who is the Gatekeeper at the 12th spot, is just 2.3 points from 11th. Joe T finds himself on the outside looking in at 13thplace, but he is just 8.7 points from 12th.
Congratulations to Rob, our 2026 Champion of the World; to Adam, the COTW Trophy winner; and to Magic Mike for winning another CTTP.
Next on the schedule is Wykoff County Club on June 28th, 2026. Don’t get too comfortable; I am working on something new.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
