It was a wild week leading up to The Misters.

Originally, we had a different course lined up, but nothing was available before 11 am, so we made the call to move everything to Agawam Municipal Golf Course.

On Tuesday, Rob had to bow out of the event due to a family matter.

Wednesday, EJ and I got a round in at Agawam. It was good to get a firsthand look at course conditions and scope out the out-of-bounds situation on holes 16 and 17. The course was wet—soft and a bit sloppy—but playable.

Then Thursday was hit with more chaos. Rey told me his baseball game had been rescheduled to Sunday thanks to all the rain that week.

And Saturday morning? Snow. Not just a dusting. I’m talking about shoveling snow. Now I was seriously worried the course might be closed.

After driving EJ to New York to pick up his new putter (priorities), we tried calling the course for an update. No luck—they were closed and wouldn’t reopen until 7 am Sunday. That meant some of our golfers could be driving in without knowing if we were even playing.

Later that day, Rey texted: “If they cancel baseball, I’ll be leading us off the first tee.” An hour later, he was in.

But then, another curveball—Stephen texted late Saturday night. He was out.  Free Points.

EJ and I rolled into the course at 7 a.m. on Sunday. We saw a guy unloading his clubs and

someone teeing off on the second hole. Relief. We texted the group: The course is open. Game on.

After breakfast, we returned to find the dreaded sign: Cart Path ONLY. Rey, Adam, and JT made the call to walk it.

Despite all the twists and turns, all 14 golfers arrived on time, ready to go. It might not have been the perfect kickoff for our first Major, but the energy was high, and we were just happy to be out there.

Front Nine:

1st Place:  Mike M – 30 (35)

2nd Place:  JT – 33 (40)

3rd Place:  Alex - 34 (51)

4th Place: Joe T – 35 (47)

4th Place:  Rachelle – 35 (46)

13th Place:  Mike J – 40 (45)

14th Place:  James – 41 (48)

Mike jumps out to a quick lead with JT, Alex, and Joe T, trying to keep it close.  The rest of the scores are tight, and anything can happen on the back nine.

Mike M has two birdies, with Adam & JT also getting their own birdies.

On the other end, James has a 7 and 8. Mike J has two 8s, but he hurt his back on the 6th hole. Joe has a 9.

The easiest hole was the Par 3, 5th Hole, playing at just under half a stroke over par.  The hardest hole was the 6th hole, playing at 1.8 strokes over par.

As a group, we shot 36 (45)

8th Place:  EJ – 38 (55)

13th Place:  Mike J – 39 (45)

14th Place:  Joe – 42 (55)

Rey decided the course was way too wet to walk and got a cart.  Adam sees the hill on the 9th tee boxes and decides that he, too, needs a golf cart.  JT sticks to walking.

On the back nine, it is Joe V who makes the statement, and the rest of the scores are even closer than they were on the front.

Joe V has three birdies.  Adam and James each have their own birdies.

James gets an 11 to go with his birdie, and Mike J has two 8s to go with his back pain.  Joe gets an 8, a 9, and then a 7 on the final Par 3.

The 17th hole is the easiest, at almost a half stroke over Par. The 16th hole is the hardest, at almost two strokes over Par.

We finish the back nine as a group with a 37 (47).  The final score as a group we shot a 74 (92)

Well, as I said, The Misters would be a moving day, and it was.  Some moved up, and some moved down.  The good news is that it is still early in the season, and anything can happen.

Next on the schedule is the Triangle of Sadness, the THREE CLUB CHALLENGE on April 27th, 2025.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
