After the round, Alex asked me for the BJG Handicaps, and I gave him some bad information…  MY BAD, but I will talk about that in a minute.

It was a little cold at Tekoa Country Club, but the welcome we received was quite warm.  They were very happy that we chose to have our event there, and they gave us a special rate.

Tekoa usually pushes us out early, but with the 20-minute Frost Delay, we went out almost on time.

Iron Mike. looking good in his new green jacket, would lead us off the first tee box.  This would be our first real outing of the year, and I think everyone is happy that this day has finally arrived.

Front Nine:

1st Place:  James – 34 (43)

2nd Place:  Iron Mike – 35 (39)

3rd Place:  Matt – 36 (45)

4th Place:  Joe A – 37 (43)

4th Place:  Joe T – 37 (48)

4th Place:  Magic Mike:  37 (44)

7th Place:  Joe - 38 (49)

7th Place:  JT – 38 (46)

9th Place:  Dustin – 40 (58)

10th Place:  Stephen – 41 (51)

11th Place:  Alex – 42 (57)

11th Place:  Rey – 42 (51)

13th Place:  Joe V – 45 (48)

14th Place:  Rob – 46 (53)

15th Place:  EJ – 47 (61)

The top six scores are tight, and the five are fighting not to let James run away with the Green Jacket.  Everyone else will need to work harder or smarter on the back nine.

The 5th Hole, Par 4, was the easiest hole at just under Par.  The 3rd Hole, Par 3, and the 9th Hole, Par 4, were the hardest holes, playing at almost 2 strokes over par.

As a Group, we shot 40 (49).

Back Nine:

1st Place:  Rey – 33 (43)

2nd Place:  Rob – 34 (42)

3rd Place:  Joe A – 35 (41)

4th Place:  EJ – 37 (52)

4th Place:  Magic Mike – 37 (44)

4th Place:  Joe V – 37 (41)

4th Place:  JT – 37 (45)

8th Place:  James – 38 (47)

8th Place:  Joe T – 38 (50)

10th Place:  Alex – 39 (54)

11th Place:  Joe – 40 (51)

12th Place:  Dustin – 41 (59)

13th Place:  Matt – 42 (51)

13th Place:  Stephen – 42 (53)

15th Place:  Iron Mike – 43 (47)

In an interesting switch of fate, there is a lot of movement in the scores on the back nine.

16th Hole, Par 4, was the easiest hole, played just under Par.  The 14th Hole, Par 5, was the hardest hole, playing at almost 2 strokes over par.

As a Group, we shot 38 (48) and a final score of 78 (87).

And this is where you will see the error of my ways.  I gave Alex the old (wrong) handicap list that listed Joe A as a 9 handicap instead of a 12, which gave James the easy win.

As we all know, scores are not official until they have been entered into the BJG computer.  That said, we now have a TIE for first place.  Unlike Rory McIlroy, we will need to hold a Putt Off at East Mountain County Club and finally close the Mister's event.

Yes, I did contact James on Tuesday morning and told him the news. James understood and is ready for the Putt Off, our first of the year.

Final Score:

1st Place:  James – 72 (90)

1st Place:  Joe A – 72 (84)

3rd Place:  Magic Mike – 74 (88)

4th Place:  Joe T – 75 (98)

4th Place:  JT – 75 (91)

4th Place:  Rey – 75 (94)

7th Place:  Iron Mike – 78 (86)

7th Place:  Joe – 78 (100)

7th Place:  Matt 78 (96)

10th Place:  Rob – 80 (95)

11th Place:  Alex – 81 (111)

11th Place:  Dustin – 81 (117)

13th Place:  Joe V – 82 (89)

14th Place:  Stephen – 83 (104)

15th Place:  EJ – 84 (113)

There really is no rest for the weary. We will be playing the “Triangle of Sadness” (3 Club Challenge) this Sunday, April 19th, 2026, at East Mountain Country Club.  The first tee time is 9:15 am

I know that Joe T, Alex, Dustin, JT, Joe V, Rob, and Adam will not be playing in this event.

We currently have 10 golfers for the 3 Club Challenge, and I have Stone and his friend (new people that Matt met at Tekoa), who are very interested in playing (and maybe joining BJG).

Since the bottom of the leaderboard is still wide open, I may open up a full-time spot to Dustin, Danny, Stone, and his friend. This would give us 20 members. I will know more after Sunday's event.

The "Triangle of Sadness (3 Club Challenge)blog should go out tomorrow.

Again, my apologies to James.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe

Commissioner
