At just under 5700 yards, I did not expect the things that I saw at Gillette Ridge. I don’t think anyone left that golf course unscathed.
The doglegs were blind, and it felt like water was everywhere. The vegetation in front of the greens was deep and thick, protecting that area like a well-armed bodyguard. The greens seemed to always be slanted away from your approach shot, and they were lightning fast. And yet, I enjoyed the layout and look forward to trying it again next year. Hopefully, with better results.
BJG FedUp Cup Finals – Front Nine
1st Place: Adam – 39 (43)
2nd Place: Rey – 41 (50)
2nd Place: Joe – 41 (52)
4th Place: Joe T – 43 (54)
4th Place: Magic Mike – 43 (50)
4th Place: Alex – 43 (57)
7th Place: EJ – 44 (58)
8th Place: Rachelle – 46 (56)
Our golf may not have been great, but the scores were still pretty tight. Word on the street was that the back would be much harder.
The easiest holes were the Par 3, 4th Hole, and the Par 5, 7th Hole, each playing at just over a stroke over par. The hardest hole was the Par 4, 9th Hole, which played almost 3 strokes over par.
As a group, we shot 43 (53).
BJG FedUp Cup Finals – Back Nine
1st Place: Joe T – 36 (48)
2nd Place: Adam – 42 (47)
2nd Place: Magic Mike – 42 (49)
4th Place: Rey – 45 (55)
5th Place: Alex – 46 (61)
6th Place: Joe – 47 (58)
7th Place: EJ – 57 (66)
7th Place: Rachelle – 57 (61)
Joe T plays lights out golf on the back nine, while the rest of us are just trying to survive. EJ has started drinking at the turn, which is odd because EJ doesn’t drink, and Rachelle wants to know where all of the color stakes are. We are all dealing with the water, bad approach shots, and treacherous greens.
The easiest hole was the Par 4, 13th Hole, which played just over a stroke over par. The hardest hole was the Par 4, 16th Hole, which played at almost 3 strokes over par.
As a group, we shot 45 (55), for a total of 88 (108).
BJG FedUp Finals – Total Scores
1st Place: Joe T – 79 (102)
2nd Place: Adam – 81 (90)
3rd Place: Magic Mike – 85 (99)
4th Place: Rey – 86 (105)
5th Place: Joe - 88 (110)
6th Place: Alex – 89 (118)
7th Place: EJ – 95 (124)
8th Place: Rachelle – 97 (117)
Joe T wins his 2nd BJG Fed Up Cup, following his first win in 2021. For the rest of us, we are just first losers since that was the FINALs. Next on the schedule is the Presidents Cup. Stay tuned for more information about that event.
Legends of Tomorrow / Losers of Today – The battle for 9th Place – Front Nine
I think JT was shy on Sunday, especially at the 1st Tee Box, because he was looking for someone to pick him up from the parking lot as Group 2 was teeing off.
JT and Eric have both played here before, so we were expecting a lot from them.
Legends Front Nine:
1st Place: JT – 37 (44)
2nd Place: Eric – 38 (49)
3rd Place: Iron Mike – 39 (43)
4th Place: Joe V – 41 (43)
JT and Eric don’t disappoint, with Iron Mike and Joe V hot on their trail. I think we have a dog fight on our hands. This is good competition.
Legends Back Nine:
1st Place: Eric – 40 (51)
1st Place: Iron Mike – 40 (45)
1st Place: Joe V – 40 (43)
4th Place: JT – 41 (49)
And just when I didn’t think it could get any better, we have a 3-way tie for 1st place with 4th place just one stroke back.
Legend Final Score
1st Place: Eric – 78 (100)
1st Place: JT – 78 (93)
3rd Place: Iron Mike – 79 (88)
4th Place: Joe V – 81 (86)
Now, there were a lot of things going on after the round:
1. We gave Rachelle her BIG Check and her Big Y $50 Gift Card. Which was a few weeks past due.

2. Alex is trying to get the scores correct and then taking Joe T’s picture with the FedUp Cup trophy and giving him his $100 bill.

3. Finding out there was a tie for the Legend of Tomorrow between Eric & JT. We have never had a tie, AND one of those Golfers was not in the clubhouse. JT had to leave, and most of us never actually saw him on Sunday. I conferred with Rey because he has been with BJG for about 10 years, and I respect his opinion, plus, our Rules Guy wasn’t here. I chose to delay my ruling until I had time to think about it more thoroughly.
4. AND I still had to get the Captains of the Presidents Cup to pick their teams so that Adam and Rachelle could drive back to Worcester.
I do apologize to Eric for not giving him more attention concerning his objection, but when I make a ruling, I don’t want to have to change it multiple times, so I needed time to think about it.
With that in mind, the rule for 2025 is as follows: In the event of a tie and only one of the golfers is in the clubhouse for the Putt-off, and the other Golfer has left the Golf Course, the one who remains will be declared the Winner.
Congratulations to Eric for his first BJG win and for being the 2025 BJG Legend of Tomorrow. We will present Eric with his Trophy at the President's Cup.

Next on the schedule is the Presidents Cup, which will be played on October 5th, 2025. Stay tuned for more information next week.

Once again, congratulations to Rachelle, Joe T, and Eric.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe,
Commissioner
