Sunday was supposed to be light rain all day, but it ended up just being cloudy and warmer as the day went on.  Golfers were finally wearing shorts.

We knew early that James would not be “in the Woods”.  Rachelle injured her hand playing softball on Saturday, and Rey’s baseball game was moved to Sunday.  On Sunday morning, Eric called out sick.  That left just 12 golfers and some “free” points.

Front Nine:

1st Place:  Joe – 32 (45)

2nd Place:  Adam – 35 (39)

3rd Place:  EJ – 37 (53)

4th Place:  Joe T – 38 (50)

5th Place;  Rob – 40 (49)

5th Place:  JT – 40 (47)

5th Place:  Iron Mike – 40 (44)

5th Place:  Joe V – 40 (43)

9th Place:  Alex - 41 (57)

9th Place:  Stephen – 41 (52)

11th Place:  Matt – 42 (49)

12th Place:  Mike J – 48 (53)

This week, it's Joe who has come out swinging for the fences, with Adam trying to keep it close.  EJ and Joe T are battling it out, and there is a big group of 7 Golfers separated by only one or two shots.  Mike J is having a tough time with this course.

The Front Nine gave up 7 Birdies, 2 of them to Matt. Adam, EJ, Iron Mike, Joe, and Rob each got their own birdie.  We also saw four 8s, five 9s, and a 10.

The easiest hole is the Par 4, 9th Hole (all uphill), playing at just over half a stroke over par.  As expected, the hardest hole was the Par 5, 2nd hole, playing almost three strokes over par.

As a group, we shot 40 (49).

Back Nine:

1st Place:  Adam – 33 (37)

2nd Place:  Joe – 34 (47)

3rd Place:  EJ – 35 (52)

4th Place:  Rob – 37 (47)

5th Place:  Mike J – 39 (45)

6th Place:  Iron Mike – 40 (45)

7th Place:  Joe V – 41 (45)

8th Place:  Stephen – 42 (53)

9th Place:  JT – 45 (52)

10th Place:  Alex – 46 (63)

11th Place:  Joe T – 47 (60)

12th Place:  Matt – 49 (56)

Adam fights hard on the back nine, but Joe continues to play well.  Each player's score is just one or two strokes from the next golfer.

Mike J plays better golf, but Joe T and Alex struggle on the back nine.  Matt is just having a tough day overall.

The Back Nine gave up only one Birdie, and that was to Adam.  We also saw seven 8s, three 9s, and two 10s.

On the back, the easiest hole is the Par 3, 13th Hole, playing at a stroke over par.  The hardest hole on the back was the Par 4, 12th hole, playing at just over two strokes over par.

As a group, we shot a score of 40 (50) and a final score of 80 (98).

Final Score

1st Place:  Joe – 66 (92)

2nd Place:  Adam – 68 (76)

3rd Place:  EJ – 72 (105)

4th Place:  Rob – 77 (96)

5th Place:  Iron Mike – 79 (89)

6th Place:  Joe V – 81 (88)

7th Place:  Stephen – 83 (105)

8th Place:  JT – 85 (99)

8th Place:  Joe T – 85 (110)

10th Place:  Alex – 85 (120)

10th Place:  Mike J – 87 (98)

12th Place:  Matt – 91 (105)

Joe's driver was on point all day, which has not happened in a while.  He also never got himself in trouble.  Of course, it may have helped that he mainly only used his two clubs from the three-club challenge.  Joe also brought and used two putters, which was a little odd.

Normally, we don’t see half of our golfers in the 80s or 90s, but I guess sometimes it happens.  It may have been because we had just played the three-club challenge, the back-to-back playing schedule, or the first time we had had decent weather this year.

Cold Springs can be a tough course, with the multiple dog-legs, deep bunkers, narrow fairways, and elevation changes.

CTTP: Joe V wins $40 for the Front Nine Closest to the Pin, and EJ wins $20 for the Back Nine Closest to the Pin.

Joe T won the Longest Drive ($20) and was the only Golfer to actually hit the fairway.

Next on the schedule is our 2nd Major, The Tin Cup Championship, on May 18th, 2025, at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield. Please let me know if you will NOT be playing on May 18th.

Take some much-needed time off, and I will see you in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully, Eric is feeling better, and the couple of weeks off will be enough time for Rachelle’s hand to heal so she can play in our 2nd Major.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
