Winter is coming... eventually...

ree

Yes, you can feel the weather just starting to change, and this will be the earliest that the Winter Classic has ever been played.  It may also be the last Winter Classic Championship at Broken Joe Golf.

Like all good things, sometimes it just has to come to an end.  At the very beginning of Broken Joe Golf, the Winter Classic Championship WAS the annual championship!!!  Over the last few years, we have had less and less participation, plus the frost delays are just brutal.

Don’t worry, we wouldn't be ending the BJG season early; we would just be moving things around to ensure the membership feels the competition all the way to the end of the season.

The Winter Classic Championship (WCC) is our oldest event (2012) and used to be our most prestigious for those who have not won it.

The Winter Classic Championship is the final BJG golf event of the 2025 season and your last chance at victory.

It is also your last opportunity to show why you should be the 2024 BJG “Rookie of the Year” and/or the 2025 BJG “Golfer of the Year.”

Our past Winter Classic Champions are:

2012 – Dave C

2013 – Dave C

2014 – Joe C

2015 – Matt B

2016 – Dan C

2017 – Rock T

2018 – Joe C

2019 – Rey R

2020 – Rey R

2021 – Joe C

2022 – Joe C

2023 – EJ

2024 – Joe C

Joe would be looking for his SIXTH Winter Classic Championship.

Rey would have been looking for his THIRD Winter Classic Championship... if he were playing, but he has to work.

ree

EJ will be looking for his SECOND Winter Classic Championship.

Or could it be someone new...

This year’s Winter Classic Championship will be played at Southampton Country Club, 329 College Hwy, Southampton, MA 01073. We chased a lot of golf courses, and this was the best we could get for "early" tee times.

BJG Drop Zones:

Hole 4 – Thick Vegetation in front of the Tee Box.  Once you put a ball into the thick vegetation, you can choose to take a drop from the BJG Drop Zone.  The BJG Drop Zone will be just in front of the thick vegetation at the bottom of the hill and just to the left of the cart path.

Hole 6 – Water in front of the Green.  Once you put TWO balls in the Water, you can choose to move to the BJG Drop Zone.  The BJG Drop Zone is just to the right of the water and just to the left of the cart path.

ree

The BJG-sponsored Closest to the Pins (CTTP) will be on the 4th hole, a Par 3 at 130 yards, and on the 10th hole, a Par 3 at 130 yards. Everyone plays from the White Tee Boxes for the CTTPs.

Weather: Mostly Cloudy. PM Showers. High 68F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Good luck, and I will see you all on Sunday.
