Jame cemented his legacy in BJG history by winning back-to-back American Freedom Open

We were already missing Rob, JT, and Joe V for this third Major, so points were going to be big.

Next, Joe A called out because he extended his vacation in Maine.  I would too if I were in Maine.

Dustin had texted me earlier in the week, saying he hurt his back and didn’t know if he could play on Sunday.  A text on Sunday, just before 8 am, confirmed that he would be out.

That means there were a LOT of Points to be had.

Front Nine:

1st Place:  Matt – 35 (46)

2nd Place:  Iron Mike – 36 (40)

3rd Place:  Adam – 37 (41)

3rd Place:  EJ – 37 (51)

3rd  Place:  James – 37 (45)

6th Place:  Magic Mike – 38 (45)

6th Place:  Rey – 38 (48)

8th Place:  Joe – 39 (50)

9th Place:  Joe T – 41 (52)

10th Place:  Stephen – 41 (51)

Matt is leading the pack after the first nine, but Iron Mike is playing well after missing a few weeks.  The scores are close, with half the pack tied and only 6 strokes separating all ten golfers.

Adam and Iron Mike get Two Birdies, and James scores one too.

The easiest hole was the Par 5 5th Hole, scored at just over half a stroke over par.  The hardest hole was the Par 4, 2nd Hole, which played at 2,2 strokes over par.

As a group, we shot 38 (47)

Back Nine:

1st Place:  James – 30 (38)

2nd Place:  EJ – 33 (48)

3rd Place:  Adam – 35 (40)

3rd Place:  Matt – 35 (46)

5th Place:  Joe T – 36 (48)

6th Place:  Rey – 37 (47)

7th Place:  Magic Mike – 39 (46)

8th Place:  Iron Mike – 41 (46)

8th Place:  Stephen – 41 (51)

10th Place:  Joe – 42 (54)

James puts his foot on the gas and shoots 6 under par on the back.  EJ tries to keep up but is 3 strokes off the pace; still, 3 under par is not bad.  Again, we have some ties, and the mere mortals have about the same scores as the front.

Magic Mike gets an EAGLE !!!  Adam, Iron Mike, and James get Birdies.

The easiest hole was the Par 5 12th Hole, scored at just over par.  The hardest hole was the Par 4, 10th Hole, which played at 2 strokes over par.

As a group, we shot 37 (46) and had a final score of 75 (93)

Final Score:

1st Place:  James – 67 (83)

2nd Place:  EJ – 70 (99)

2nd Place:  Matt – 70 (92)

4th Place:  Adam – 72 (81)

5th Place:  Rey – 75 (95)

6th Place:  Iron Mike – 77 (89)

6th Place:  Joe T – 77 (100)

6th Place:  Magic Mike – 77 (91)

9th Place:  Joe- 81 (104)

10th Place: Stephen – 82 (102)

Matt remains at the top of the leaderboard, and he must be feeling like it's 2024 again.  Adam and Magic Mike change places.  James moves from the 9th spot to 4th, not bad for a day’s work.

Rey moves from 8th to 5th, and Iron Mike moves from 7th to 6th.  EJ goes from 10th to 7th; Joe falls from 6th to 8th.  Joe A falls from 4th to 9th, and Rob falls from 5th to 10th.  Stephen is also tied for the 10th spot.  Joe T is the Gatekeeper at 12th.

JT is now on the outside looking in at 13th.  Joe V and Dustin remain way behind, at 14th and 15th, respectively.

EJ wins the American Freedom Special Challenge.  Adam wins the Longest Drive, and Joe wins the Closest to the Pin and the Random Number Drawing thanks to hitting the green on the 7th hole.

We also had a chance to celebrate BJG’s  “First Couple’s” 1st Anniversary.  We gave them a golf clock as their gift, which symbolizes spending time together.  The next gift for our First Couple will be when they have a grandchild.

I hope everyone enjoyed the different ideas and events that we brought to America’s 250th Anniversary celebration.

I am working on getting Westover for our next event, but you will need to wait to see if I can pull it off. Wish me luck...

Congratulations again to James for his consecutive American Freedom Open win.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
