The End of the Line — One Final Champion for the Year,

And just like that, the 2026 Broken Joe Golf season has officially come to an end!

But before we could crown our final champion of 2026, we had one more opponent to deal with.

FROST!

Once again, we started the day with a frost delay. Fortunately, this time we were only about five groups back, and things moved along pretty quickly.

The weather was chilly, the leaves were everywhere, and seven golfers were ready for one final shot at BJG glory.

The first hole proved to be a challenge, especially with all those leaves. Hopefully, this wasn't a sign of things to come.

Unfortunately, for some of us, it was!

James came out playing some excellent golf, posting a net 36 (42) to take the early lead.

But this championship was far from over!

Rey was just one stroke behind at 37, with Magic Mike another stroke back at 38.

Meanwhile, Dustin, Joe, and JT were locked in a three-way tie for fourth at 40, with Matt sitting just one stroke behind them.

With only four strokes separating first place from sixth, just about everyone was still in the hunt.

James, JT, and Rey each managed to record a birdie on the front nine.

Front Nine Highlights:

  • Easiest Hole: Par 4, 8th hole — averaging just half a stroke over par.

  • Hardest Hole: Par 4, 1st hole — averaging nearly three strokes over par.

  • BJG Group Average: 39 net (48 gross).

At the turn, James had the lead, but with Rey and Magic Mike right on his heels, there was still plenty of golf left to play.

And as we all know, anything can happen on the back nine!

THE BACK NINE

As the day continued, the weather kept getting better and better.

Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for everyone's golf game!

James wasn't about to let this championship slip away.

After shooting a net 36 on the front, he actually improved on the back, posting a net 35 (42).

That's right, James shot 42 on both sides!

But James wasn't the only golfer making a move.

JT put together an impressive back nine of his own, matching James with a net 35 (44). It was the best nine-hole performance of the day, shared by both golfers.

Unfortunately for JT, James had already built himself a four-stroke advantage on the front nine.

Rey and Magic Mike, who had been right on James's heels at the turn, couldn't quite keep pace.

Meanwhile, Dustin and Matt found the back nine particularly challenging.

And unlike the front nine, the back nine wasn't giving away any birdies!

Back Nine Highlights:

  • Easiest Hole: Par 3, 11th hole — averaging almost one stroke over par.

  • Hardest Hole: Par 4, 17th hole — averaging nearly three strokes over par.

  • BJG Group Average: 41 net (50 gross).

With the final putts dropping, there would be no dramatic playoff and no last-hole miracle.

James had taken control of the championship and never looked back.

YOUR 2026 BJG WINTER CLASSIC CHAMPION — JAMES!

Congratulations to James on an outstanding performance and another well-deserved championship!

James finished with a net 71 (84), winning by four strokes over JT.

He led after the front nine, tied for the best back nine, and was the only golfer to finish under par on a net basis.

That's how you close out a season!

And let's not forget, this wasn't James's first trip to the winner's circle in 2026.

James also captured The Misters and the American Freedom Open, giving him three championship victories for the season. Not a bad year at all!

James certainly has given the Commissioner something to think about as we prepare to select our 2026 BJG Award winners.

CLOSEST TO THE PIN

Congratulations to Joe and James for winning our Closest to the Pin competitions!

THE END OF THE LINE

And with that, the 2026 Broken Joe Golf season is officially in the books.

Another season of competition, championships, great shots, bad shots, unexpected victories, and memories that will hopefully last a lifetime.

I want to THANK everyone who participated throughout the year.

While the Winter Classic marks the end of our 2026 season, I hope it won't be too long before we get together again to discuss what 2027 might look like.

There are some important decisions ahead, but those can wait for another day.

For now, congratulations once again to James, our 2026 Winter Classic Champion, and to all our champions throughout the season.

I'll now turn my attention to reviewing the season and selecting our 2026 BJG Award winners.

Thank you all for another great season of Broken Joe Golf.

YOU ARE RIGHT WHERE THE BEST BELONG.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe

Commissioner
