The Woods Shootout (2026)

Back in 2022, as the final day of the AT&T, Bryon Nelson Championship was being played, I thought that BJG should name one of our events with the same spirit as one of the greatest golfers of all time.
Of course, the choice was obvious…
Tiger Woods has been the most dominant player for most of our lives, much like Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, and Wayne Gretzky, just to name a few.

For most, if not all, golfers, Tiger Woods embodies the kind of player we strive to be in each round.

Some of us are like the "young" Woods, wanting to crush the competition each and every week.

Some of us are like a “troubled" Woods.

Some of us are like a "broken" Woods.

But some of us will probably just be "In The Woods"… a lot.

The "2026 Woods Shootout" will be played on May 3rd, 2026, at Agawam Municipal Golf Course, 128 Southwick St, Feeding Hills, MA. Riding is $40, and Walking is $29.
There are 232 Total Points available this week. 32 Points for 1st Place and 2 Points for last Place.
In the spirit of Tiger Woods, we should all wear his signature Sunday outfit—a Red Shirt with Black Shorts or Pants.
For each Golfer who wears the Red and Black, I will award one point for Camaraderie. For those who just wear a red shirt or black pants/shorts, I will award half a point.

Previous Woods Shootout Champions are:
2022 - Joe
2023 - Adam (1)
2024 – Iron Mike
2025 - Joe
As the current Woods Shootout Champion, Joe will lead us off the first tee.

James will not be playing in the Woods because he will be working. JT also has an event this Sunday.
Welcome back Adam.

Handicaps:

Please turn in your scorecards to Alex after the round. Alex will verify the scores.
There is no “water” at this golf course, but on holes 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 & 17, a small stream cuts across the fairways. Sometimes it is wet, and sometimes it is dry. They all should be marked with RED Stakes and will be played as Penalty Areas with a one stroke penalty.
The 17th Hole has the ONLY OUT OF BOUNDS that we DON’T play, and that is for Safety. Many golfers used to try to play the 16th fairway backward to reach the 17th green, avoiding the trees at the right dogleg. Three white stakes and a white line mark this area as out of bounds. If you hit into the OOB, you can hit a Provisional Ball for a one-stroke penalty or drop in the 17th fairway for a two-stroke penalty.

Weather: Partly sunny with a chance of a morning shower. Low of 38F and a high of 58F, Winds WNW at 10 to 15 MPH.
Longest Drive – Par 5, 4th Hole - 419 yards. The ball must be in the Fairway and marked with an ORANGE CONE with the name on an index card.
The Closest to the Pin: Par 3, 13th Hole, 152 Yards.
Group One will drop off the BJG equipment, and Group Four will bring the equipment back to the clubhouse and give it to Adam. Adam will declare the winners and get their pictures.
Good luck on Sunday, and try to stay out of the "woods."

Respectfully,
Broken Joe
Commissioner
