Before Sunday‘s golf match I thought that there were some questions that needed to be answered. With Chris on vacation and Dave out of work (Go Rams!) there was going to be a lot of golf to be played. Joe jumped on that bandwagon on Wednesday and even Judy and Heather got caught up in the “golf vacation” by playing at Pine Knoll.
Chris was scoring in the 90s 3 out of the first 4 weeks. During weeks 5 through 11 he was shooting in the low 100s. By weeks 12 & 13, Chris’s was having his worse scores yet with a 110 & a 112.
Chris shot a 112 at Kingston and the next day at Apple Hill he shot a 94. All week he was either scoring in the 90s or the 110s. So to be honest with you, I didn’t know which Chris was showing up on Sunday. Of course this would be his and Dave’s 3rd shot at this golf course. 91 is an excellent score for such an inconsistent golfer. Even Chris will tell you that on this week he went back to what works for him and it showed.
This is where you worry about ‘gamesmanship” with the handicaps. Look at Dave’s, he has 93, 92, 86, 104, 88, 87, 96 and 89 (He shot a 84 the day before) for an average of 92. You would think it would have to be lower…
With all that said, if we went back to getting your handicap from your lowest score like we did for the last 2 years then Jake’s handicap would only be 2 better than Dave, Chris would only be 4 better and Joe would have a 7 higher handicap (wait, Joe has that now). So I guess we will just have to see how this plays out. No, I am not taking calls from the Competition Committee just yet but if they knock on my door…
All the scores from last week, I thought, were pretty good and showed exactly what can happen at the Winter Classic except that you have to play 2 rounds. Could Chris shoot another 91 or Dan another 98 (the 98 that tied with Jake).
Taking a page from Ryan’s book, I’ll ask the question – Who shoots the score closest to their handicap this week. We could make it interesting by everyone picking a letter for a dollar.
Jake – 96
Joe – 97
Chris – 89
Dan – 96
Leon – 106
Rock – 116
Matt - 115
There are still about 13 weeks to play before the Championship plus we will have 2 more majors. We also have Fantasy Football just around the corner. The coming weeks should be very interesting.
On a side note I have to give props to Rock’s new golf attire. I have always said that even if you cannot play the game, dress like you can and Rock came dressed to play. Leon could lose his title as best dressed golfer if Rock keeps going to Marshalls.

This week the old guys are going to St Annes on Saturday while the young bucks play on Friday before heading out for the Jack & Jill weekend.
