A Blast from the Past - The Best Ball Challenge

After the 2015 Father's Day Cup was played we decided to play another round. It was, according to us, Fathers Day or it least it would be tomorrow. Jake had to go to a wedding, Leon was off to NH and Dan had to watch the 3 kids while Amanda went to play golf (is that poetic justice or what?)

That left Joe, Chris Dave and Matt. Here we are in the parking lot of Vets trying to figure out what we are going to play. Matt was seriously depressed, Chris just had a hugh melt down and his confidence was a little rocked and Joe's back was hurting. I am pretty sure that the three of us were tired because we also work all week which Dave has not done in a while.
We decide that we will do best (Chris & Joe), scramble (Dave) ball. Dave takes Matt, and Chris and Joe will be a team. Chris thought that Dave would be so busy breathing life back into Matt that this should be a victory for Chris and Joe.
Well what do you know... after the first 2 holes Chris and Joe are down by 2 strokes. On the first tee Joe is really short and Chris is wide right behind a tree. On the 2nd hole Matt crushes his tee shot. Yes, you read that right. I could not belive it myself, and I was there.
3rd, 4th and 5th hole - tied
6th hole: Chris and Joe are about to get one stroke back. They had made the par, Dave had missed his putt and all that was left was for Matt to give it the old college try. Something strange happened as Matt's putt was rolling on the left side of the cup. The Golf Gods must have asked Mother Earth to spin the earth just a little faster, and when she did Matt's putt fell to the right and into the hole. Un- Freaking - Believeable...
7th and 8th hole - even. Joe and Chris are still down by 2.
9th hole and Chris and Joe get one back and at the turn, they are only down by one and feeling pretty good.
10th hole: Poor tee shots and piss poor putting and Dave & Matt are back up by two again. There is still alot of golf left to play.
11th, 12th, and 13th hole - same. Chris and Joe down by 2.
14th hole: Just a bad hole for Chris and Joe period.... Now they are down by 3.
15th hole Par 3: Chris and Joe get their par. Matt has a 20 foot putt for par. Hahahahah and then he makes it. This could be the straw that broke the camels back.
16th hole same but Chris and Joe know that time is running out. Three holes left and down by 3. How hard can this be, Dave has Matt.
17th hole. Real hard !!! Chris and Joe needed a to sink a 2 foot putt but neither of them could do it. DOWN BY 4 WITH ONE TO PLAY.
18th hole: Joe hits the same shot he did for the Father's Day Cup earlier, right in the middle of the green. Chris and Joe par it and Dave and Matt get it in 4.
Yes, the unthinkable happened, the top 2 points leaders lost by 3. So much for depressed Matt... he was a man resurrected and we were going to have to listen to his shit talking for a while.
The key to Dave and Matt's victory was that when Dave needed Matt, Matt came through.
Congratulations to "Ronnie Ruger" and "Daddy 2 Guns". Don't blame me, those were the names they gave themselves.
All in all it was a good time but Joe and Chris want a re-match.
