Leon takes advantage of “Easy” Mountain Golf Course

The Father’s Day Cup was played at East Mountain Golf Course because we could play from the “blue” (manly) tees and because the course is supposed to be easy, hence the name “Easy Mountain”. I wanted to give everyone a chance to show their "best golf".
There were some good holes and some bad holes and after the front 9 this is what is looked like.
Dave – 43
Joe – 44
Dan & Chris – 46
Leon – 47
Jake – 49
Rock – 52
Matt – 64
But when you looked at the handicaps, it looked a lot different
Leon and Dan came out swinging by shooting a 29, 6 under par.
Joe was next with a 31, 4 under par,
Chris had a 33, 2 under par,
Dave & Rock shot a 34, both at 1 under par.
Jake had a rough start shooting a 37, 2 over par and Matt bring up the rear with a 46, 11 over par.
All in all the scores looked good and people seemed to be taking advantage of the easy course chosen for this Major but we still had another nine to play and anything could happen. We have witnessed the wheels falling off on more than one occasion.
Once again we saw some good holes and some bad holes but in the end…
Dave shots a 42 on the back to finish with an 85. The week before, on a much harder course, Dave shot an 84. While last week we sung Dave’s praise, this week we have to say that he was… mediocre at best. I would say that he sucked but he did shot an 85.

Joe shot a 46 on the back and finished with a 90. Joe incurred a 2 stroke penalty for hitting the wrong ball (2nd time this year). Who would have guessed that Joe’s drive on the 15th hole, par 5 was the farthest and in the center of the fairway on a dog leg right. The answer is "no one" which is why Joe hit the wrong ball even though he marks his golf balls with tiger stripes. Once again he could have been in the 80s club but it was not to be…

Jake shot a 44 on the back and at any other golf course this would be pretty good but together with his 49 on the front he finished with a 93. Not bad for a guy who doesn’t play every week.
Chris shot a 49 on the back. Again, under normal circumstances this would be a good score but not at “Easy Mountain”. Chris finishes with a 95 (Not 96 as was his originally reported score). Chris had to be a little nervous that Dan had tied him in ACTUAL strokes play, not by handicap on the front 9. He also had to have felt like he had not played up to his full potential.

Leon shot a 50 on the back to finish with a… drum roll please… 97. Yes, for the very first time Leon has shot in the (high) 90s. Leon even had a birdie on the 3rd hole par 3. Today Leon took full advantage of Easy Mountain.

Dan finishes the back 9 with a 52. Dan had a whiff of victory but in the end he just could not put it together on the back nine. Dan finished with 98. One stroke more than Leon and 3 strokes more than Chris. Close but no cigar.

Rock finishes the back with 54, 2 strokes more than on the front and finished with a 106. Truth be told, I think when Joe hit Rock’s ball on the 15th hole, it kind of took Rock out of his game for a minute. This would be the 2nd time that Joe has hit Rock’s ball by accident in a Major. Rock did finish strong with a bogey on 17 and a par on 18.

Matt… what can I say about Matt. On the back 9 Matt shot a 76 (which is 5 over par for 18) and finished with a 140. Martin Hall from the Golf Fix says “If you keep doing what you've been doing, you'll keep getting what you've been getting.” Matt , at this rate, the arm attached to your bad shoulder is going to fall off if you keep scoring in the 140s.
