Half Way Through the Season

Easy Mountain was probably the easiest golf course we will play during the Broken Joe Golf “Tour”. After 12 weeks of competition this would not only be your opportunity to “play better golf” but to also show it to everyone else.

I have looked at the handicaps many different ways and in the end, these are the most accurate handicaps you will be probably ever see anywhere and because of that, you truly have to play better if you want to win.

For some of us “playing better” means that we have to play smarter. For others it may mean that playing once a week (or less) just isn’t going to be enough. Some people may need to practice at the driving range or work on their short game at a par 3 course. For some people, if you want to “play better’ may mean getting a golf lesson(s).

There are only 14 weeks in the season before we get to the Winter Classic Championship and that is if we play every week.

No matter how you slice it, no matter what you tell yourself at the end of the day, when you look in the mirror, the truth is that when you look at the numbers, Leon is “playing consistent golf”.

Leon has 3 out of 4 trophies this year and 19 point lead over 2nd place and a 42.5 point lead over 3rd place.

1. Leon won the Irish Cup in the dead of winter (March), (the first and last Irish Cup),

2. He won the Patriot's Cup by beating Matt head to head. Hell, Leon wasn't even supposed to play Matt.

3. And last but not least, Leon won the Father's Day Cup because he played really well, shooting in the 90s for the very first time.

In the end, for me the numbers say that Leon is the only Golfer playing consistent golf within his handicap. The rest of us, for whatever reason, are not playing golf that is consistent with our handicaps. Most of us are just off by a few strokes or less. What makes matters look and feel worst is that Leon plays better during the Majors and isn't that what he is supposed to do?

If you want to win, you have to play better golf.
