Matty Ice formally withdraws from Broken Joe GOLF 2016 season. It almost reminds me of Tiger Woods.

Matt’s statement to the Competition Committee “It is with a sad and heavy heart I must withdraw from the remainder of the 2016 Broken Joe GOLF.”

The sad part is that this really is a tale of two cities with Matt this year. The first is that he has been plagued with injuries or at least he is always complaining about something…

But in this case, an actual doctor told him he had a partially torn Achilles tendon and ankle ligament damage.

The second is that since we limited his handicap to 36 he has really played bad. Except for week 1 (108) and week 7 (106) he has really been bad, shooting in the high 120s, 130 and even had 3 weeks in the 140s. His average score this year has been 127. Even with a handicap his average score is 91. His total points for the year is 44, that’s 83 points from first place, hell he’s 26.5 points from 7th place.

The fat lady has sung for Matt but this may just be what he needs to start the 2017 Broken Joe GOLF season healthy.

Matt can also use some of the 2016 year to practice and be ready for next year. Of course Matt could just keep making Anheuser-Busch richer. Only time will tell.

Of course this isn’t the first time a past Champion has had to give up their dream of winning another Winter Classic Championship; Dave had to do the same thing in 2014.

We will see you again next year Matt
