The Blog is Late...

Yes, I know that the Blog from Westover is very late but there is a good reason and that reason is water.
Wednesday morning my basement flooded. Not totally flooded like New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina but there was water in places where it shouldn't be.
Fortunately, I had a dentist appointment that day so after that was done I went and bought a dry vac. For the next 24 hours I sucked up the water but it just kept coming back. At first I just assumed it was from the recent rain and with the ground being so dry the water just decided to go on vacation in my basement.
As I was vacuuming up water for the 20th time at around 4am I though how much more water could be in the ground. My wife quickly tried to get some foundation guys to come look our foundation. I started to think maybe it was a broken pipe. My wife asked if it was the water heater. It couldn't be the water heater because there wasn’t enough water on the floor and we still had hot water.
As I search for the broken piper I touched the top of the water heater’s insulation and it's wet… I tear off the insulation and I see the leak, steady and slow. Good thing I found it because I was getting tired of vacuuming water.
I call Chris because he has experience in these matters; after all he put this water heater in about 12 years ago. Ryan calls me and says he can help too.
So for about 4 hours before Chris and Ryan show up I am trying to drain the water from the water heater and it is no easy task.
I get my hose from the yard and hook it up to the drain. I suck on the hose trying to get the water flowing but it is just a trickle. I should have called Matt. I cut the hose and get a small bucket and go to work.
Chris and Ryan show up but the water heater is still full. Chris shows me the 2nd drain plug which is actually the knob to open the other drain, yes the one where no water is coming out.
I have Chris and Ryan go pick up the new water heater because I am going to complete my mission of empting this SOB.
The water is flowing free if I open the 2nd drain so I go in the yard and get my other hose. I take the 2nd drain pug off and water comes pissing out. I try to get the hose on it but it is a battle. I manage to just hook it on but at this point I’m going to have to vacuum up water again. I try again and this time I manage to get the hose all the way on the 2nd drain plug… but the hose is shot and water comes leaking out like a faucet. I pull it off and put the plug back on.
I decide to flip the hoses so that at least I can get the water out of the 2nd drain with a hose that actual works. I unhook the hose that is on the 1st plug and take off the 2nd plug. Water is everywhere as I fight to somehow stem the flow but I look the preacher in the Poseidon Adventure. Well that didn’t work. I said f*ck and go back to the trickle method, defeated, wet and exhausted.

Chris and Ryan come back with the new water heater and the process of putting new one in starts. Of course nothing is easy, another trip to Lowes, few new burn marks and we finish at 9:30pm. Fun times.
Westover:
Leon plays the long course well and wins again (Yes, I am getting tired of writing that). Rock plays pretty good and comes in 2nd, only three strokes back. Dave and Jack finish in the 90s and Chris and Joe bring up the rear tied at 111. Matt is still broken and Dan takes the weekend off.
After golf we have a couple of drinks but then I have to go to Leon’s house to pick up a freezer. I follow Leon but he isn’t making it easy. The speed limit coming out of Westover is 25 MPH and Leon is doing 40. We get to 291 where it’s 55 MPH and Leon is doing 70. His Buick is putting me and my Charger to shame. Leon is aggressively driving on 91 but at this point I have my GPS on so I back up a little bit so I don’t get screwed trying get off my exit. We jump on 57 and Leon has no intention of slowing down. We get off the exit to 159 and Leon doesn’t even pretend to slow down to merge.
Next thing you know Leon pulls into the gas a mile from his house. After that trip I am thinking that we both need gas.

Leon jumps out of his car and runs inside as he is giving me some kind of hand and arm signals… he has to piss... NOW.
Leon feeling much better...
