Dan’s journey as a bride’s maid probably started with the 2014 Winter Classic Championship where after 5 different counts; Dan was declared to be the first loser. In 2016, Dan has finished 2nd in two of the last three Majors but Dan was not to be denied in the “Last Chance Championship”. Of course Dan didn’t look like the winner from the way he played on the first hole. Dan had to hit the ball four times just to get past the ladies tee box.

Congratulations to Dan for his first victory, shooting an actual score of 98 and a handicap score of 63

Joe shot an amazing (for him) 41 on the front 9 by having 6 pars, 2 bogeys and a triple bogey. The 9th hole was a little scary but a wayward 3rd shot stayed right of the water to save bogey but he should have seen this as a sign of things to come.

On the 10th hole, Joe’s a poor tee shot is helped by playing smart and taking the bogey. Then the gates of failure open and the crap flows freely on the 11th hole. Joe’s first tee shot goes a little right. He might be alright but you just never know. He hits his provisional and it goes left. Yes, I said left and directly in to the woods. I hope he finds his first one or he will be hitting 5. As the Golf Gods were merciful, Joe finds his ball just in the woods but on a trail. Joe plays it safe and puts it back on the fairway, now hitting 3 instead of 7. But this was not the way the story would end, it would take Joe 5 more shots to go the last 124 yards to finish with 8 but guess that is better than a 9.

On the 11th hole, Joe puts two more drives in the woods, one right and one left. At the end of this hole, Joe has earned himself an 11 or 6 over par. For the next 6 holes, Joe’s driver never really comes back but he does manage to drag his golf bag to the finish line. Not with the score in the 80s which the day had promised but not in the 100s which the back 9 had hoped.

Joe, even after this epic failure, was able to finish with a 98. Joe did practice a couple days in his simulator, but I guess that only equals 9 holes in the real world.

Leon and Rock had their own troubles during the "Last Chance Championship", by chasing 8s, 9s, 11s and even a 12.

After 26 weeks, we finally have a new Number One Golfer on the Broken Joe Golf Leaderboard and Leon has fallen to 2nd. The other changes from the Last Chance Championship were:

Dave moves up to 3rd place while Rock drops to 4th.

Jake moves up to 5th place while Chris drops down to 6th.

With only 4 weeks until the Winter Classic Championship and only 6 weeks left in the Broken Joe Golf season, points will be at a premium and right now the points are close.

This Saturday we are playing at Oak Ridge Golf Course. We have a 7:30 shot gun start. Matt is out on a Medical and Dan has a …. Wedding. Rock might have to work so we will have to see how that works. So we are either play 3 & 3 or 3 & 2. If you know someone that wants to play, let me know first so we don’t invite too many people.

Weekly Handicaps:

Dave – 18

Jake – 25

Chris – 26

Joe – 27

Dan – 35

Leon – 36

Rock 36

I have order the trophies so bring your money on Thursday or Saturday. Matt is also looking for his weekly football pool money.
