After last week’s dramatic finish at the Winter Classic Championship, the first round of the Broken Joe Golf Championship paled in comparison.

Dave worked, Leon went to Vermont with his wife, Rock played in a golf tournament and Dan told his wife the season was over. I haven’t heard from Jake since last Saturday but I think hunting season is getting ready to start. Maybe he is getting ready to stock his refrigerator for the winter.

Never the less, Joe and Chris kept with the schedule and played the first round. Ray decided to play also. Hell, we had plenty of room.

We had a 7:52 tee time on Saturday morning at Agawam Golf Course. It was probably 30 degrees out and the there was a frost delay when we got there. Joe Pesci said we may only get to play 9 holes. He had a men’s group going out at 8am and a tournament going out a 1pm.

Around 8:15, Agawam Golf Course finally took our money and told us to start on the 16th hole. The 16th hole was in the shade and it was COLD. The horn sounded and I couldn’t wait to get in the sun. After a couple of holes it really started to warm up and it end up being a great day.

After 3 holes Chris was down by 5 but it was still early.

Chris and Joe played neck and neck from the 1st hole through the 5th hole but then Chris’s driver started to act up. Chris was also probably tired. Ray was driving and while Ray was good at dropping Chris off at his ball, he wasn’t so good at picking him up. Let’s not even talk about leaving the cart in all kinds of places. It was nice to drive a cart all alone for a change.

Next weekend is the official end of the Broken Joe Golf season. Right now it looks like Joe will be the Number 1 Golfer for a second year in a row. The only one that has a shot is Leon but he would have to play on Saturday at Cold Springs

And that means it’s time to pay the piper. Dan, the Treasurer, will be collecting $64 from each player. Dan will not be accepting checks or credit cards so please bring cash on Thursday. (Dan, you have one job and I’m counting on you)

Update: Leon has committed to playing the last round for the Broken Joe Golf Championship Cup. We will be playing on Saturday at Cold Springs with a tee time at 7:36. Leon needs to finish first and Joe to finish 3rd if he wants to be the 2016 Broken Joe Champion. It should make for an interesting day of golf. Chris has assured himself a top 3 finish.
