While it was nice to be in the warm weather, it was not nice to see the long narrow fairways and the slick as ice greens. Even after 3 rounds of golf, I still could not buy a one putt, hell I was luck to walk off the green with a two putt and that didn't happen very often.

Round One – The Saints Golf Course.

The Saints Golf Course is a very nice municipal golf course. After struggling to play the whites, which would be the blues in MA, we decide that the silver tees were closer to what we play at home.

Front Nine: Dave played well, in fact, on the front nine, he had two birdies and three pars to finish with a 41.

Chris played the front nine to a score of 50 but he was having good holes and bad holes.

Dan’s driver and chipping looked good. He started a little shaky but then settled down and finish the front with a 51.

Joe, like Chris, had some good holes and some bad holes, unfortunately more bad then good and ended up with a 55.

Back Nine: Dave could only manage a couple of pars and finished the back with a 45 and a total of 86.

Joe decided it was better to play conservative (scared) then to fall apart early in the Championship. Joe finished the back with a 49 and a total of 104.

Dan was playing well on the back nine, in fact, he got a birdie on the 13th hole. Dan was like “Jack” in the Titanic movie, he was “King of the World” and pissing on everything.

Unfortunately, like the Titanic, Dan started to crack, scoring a 10 on the 15th and 17th holes to finish the back nine with a 55 and a total of 106.

Chris was having his own trouble; the driver was starting to go away. He fought the driver long and hard but in the end he finished the back with a 59 and a total of 109.

Name – Actual Score / Handicap Score

Dave – 86 / 73

Dan – 106 / 80

Joe – 104 / 82

Chris – 109 / 86

After the first round Dave is up by 7 strokes but had Dan not had those issues on 15 and 17, he could have been up by 1…but Karma wasn’t having any of that.

Final Round – St Lucie Trail Golf Club (PGA course)

Again, learning from our earlier ass kicking, we went with the "middle" tees instead of the "standard" tees and we weren’t the only ones.

After some practice we started on the back nine. Joe continued to play very conservative knowing that he was just a breath away from watching his own driver go to crap. Joe finished the back nine with a 52.

Dave and Dan were battling hard and both finished with a 53 which meant Dave was in trouble.

Chris’s driver trouble continued with him into the new day and the new course and he shot a 66 after 9 holes.

On to the front nine…

Dave, knowing that he was in trouble, started playing like the old Teflon Dave, finishing the front with a 44 and a total of 97.

Joe continued to play his conservative style game and shot a 53 for a total of 105.

Dan started having good holes and bad holes. Dan gave it the “old college try” but he could not match Dave’s game and finished the nine with a 54 and a total score of 107.

Chris, knowing that his driver had gone to China with Judy’s bathing suit, he decided to change things up. He opened his stance and twisted and turned in to different yoga positions until he managed to find a little dignity in his golf game and for the most part it worked. Chris finished the front with a 52 and a total score of 118.

Final Round Name – Actual Score / Handicap Score

Dan – 107 / 81

Joe – 105 / 82

Dave – 97 / 84

Chris – 118 / 95

Dan did get to kick some of that "Old Man" ass. Dan was playing very well and is looking to make a run at being a back to back winner of the Winter Classic Championship.

FINAL SCORE

Dave – 157 (+13)

Dan – 161 (+17)

Joe – 165 (+21)

Chris – 181 (+37)

Dave is the 2017 Florida International Golf Champion, removing Chris as the two time Florida International Champion. Congratulations to Teflon Dave and here’s to hoping that this is not a glimpse to what we have to look forward to in the 2017 Broken Joe Golf season.

Maybe next year we move the International Championship to Arizona….
