The Commissioner Makes a Ruling

The Issue: On Sunday, April 30th 2017, the last week to submit a score card for the April 22nd golf event, Eric and Matt T have a thunderstorm roll in after 15 holes and they cannot complete their round.

The Commissioner’s Ruling: While I understand that we need to build in flexibility for our group, I think that a three week window to turn in a score card is the most liberal policy in all of Massachusetts and that is saying something. While the circumstances are unfortunate, my ruling is that because Eric, Matt T and Ray failed to turn in a score card within the allotted time period, they must receive a DNF (Did Not Finish).

Truth be told, this is not really the end of the world for these golfers because of the way we have set up Broken Joe Golf. Championship rounds are worth twice as much money (The Chosen FORE, The 3 Club Challenge and the Commissioner’s Trophy), Majors are worth three times as much money (The Pretenders, The Father’s Day Invitational and The American Freedom Open), The Winter Classic Championship is worth four times as much money and the Broken Joe Championship is worth five times as much money and there are two cuts. Of course with all of that said you will still have to play better golf.
As always, you can appeal the Commissioner’s ruling to the Competition Committee.but you must notify me before 3pm on Thursday, May 4th, 2017,
