After a mere 14 days (3 weekends) I can finally tell you the tale of the Fathers Day Massacre.

In what can only be described as scene from the Game of Thrones, Dave kills Eric’s win by failing to turn in the score card..

Not only did he screw Eric out of the win, Dave single handedly ensured that Eric, Jake and himself would make no money towards the Leaderboard and this was a Major.

I don’t think Jake will be that upset since he shot a 109 to come in last for 90 cents. The good news for the rest of us is that these 3 WERE at the top of the Leaderboard.

Before you start crying your alligator tears and Dave has his mom calling me, Dave was given many reminders by group text messages over the last 14 days to submit the score card.

On Sunday, June 11th around 12:47pm, I remind everyone that I need the score cards.

1. On Tuesday, June 3th at 7:48am, I remind the group that I need the score cards.

2. On Thursday, June 15th around 5:30pm, I remind Dave, Dan and Rock (in person) that I still need their score cards.

3. On Sunday, June 18th, around 1:48pm Dan reminds Rock to send in their score card and Rock does.

4. On Tuesday, June 20th, around 1:00pm I remind the group that I am still missing Dave, Eric and Jake’s score card.

5. Eric comments “I hope Dave still has the score card and my dollar”.

6. Dave replies that he “does have the score card and Eric’s dollar”.

For Dave, I wonder if the texts were “too long, didn’t read” ?

So just let me quickly sum up Eric’s Father’s Day:

1. Got screwed out of a win

2. Didn’t get any money towards the Leaderboard AND it was a Major

3. His handicap dropped to 27

4. Bryan gets the win.

5. AND Dave owes him a dollar

(Speaking of money, people still owe money to Broken Joe Golf but I’ll cover that at the end)

Now let me tell you how we got here and how it took 3 weekends to finish the Fathers Day Invitational

June 10th (Off week)

Joe had to play because he was going away for Fathers day weekend

Chris had to play because he had to babysit because Dan and Dave went away Fathers Day weekend

Ray had to play because he was working Fathers Day weekend

June 11th (Off week)

Dan, Dave, Jake and Rock had to play because they had the wedding party event on Fathers Day weekend.

Eric and Matt T had to play because… work?

That left Bryan, Matty Mush, and Joe T to play on Fathers Day weekend (scheduled weekend)

Bryan could only play on Saturday, June 17th but no one was available to play with him so I told him I would play with him the following Saturday, June 24th.

Joe T and Matty Mush were playing on Sunday, that is until Matty Mush decided that the tee time that Joe T got was too late for him. Now Joe T is assed out. Fortunately Matt T, stepped up and offered to play with Joe T. (But Matt T played on June 11th because he couldn’t play on Fathers Day weekend???)

On Tuesday, I called Chris to see if he wanted to play golf on Saturday with me and Bryan. Chris said yes and that Ray wanted to play too. Chris then sent a text message out to see who was playing that weekend. Of course, Matty Mush said that he wanted to play Saturday because he still needed to play. Since I wasn’t getting a 5 person tee time and I didn’t want to deal with any drama about who was playing with who, I dropped out. Hind sight being 20/20, I should have made 2 tee times, one for Me, Bryan, Chris and Ray and a then single tee time for Matty Mush but that would have made me a bad commissioner.

I guess in the end Matt Mush got what he wanted, to play with his Big Daddy and teacher for the Fathers Day Invitational.
