For better or worse, Broken Joe GOLF has always been somewhat of a Monarchy rule but not because I have not asked for help. Over the last 2 years, I have tried to get people to do some jobs but in the end it was just easier to do it myself. Chris has really stepped up to the plate this year but unfortunately we almost never see eye to eye or we are just saying the same thing in a much different way. Sometimes I'm more confused by the time we are finished our “discussions”.

Like America, I think that it may be time for Broken Joe GOLF to claim its independence from a Monarchy rule but without the need for bloodshed.

Maybe this should be my last year as the Commissioner, as the Competition Committee, as the Tee Time Scheduler, as the Keeper of Handicaps, as the Score Keeper, as the Bog writer and as the Collector of Money. As you can see there are more than enough jobs to go around, but that would take all of you working as group to become a Democracy.

For the 2018 golf season, maybe we should seek:

1. A new volunteer to become our Commissioner and unlike the NFL’s commissioner, our will have limited powers

2. 3 volunteers that will act as the Competition Committee to review appeals from a Commissioner"s ruling.

3. A volunteer to schedule tee times for the scheduled week of play.

4. A volunteer to keep all scores (actual, handicap and adjusted)

5. A volunteer that will track our handicaps to ensure fairness of play.

6. A volunteer that will collect and track all of the fees and winnings after each round.

7. A volunteer that writes the Blog.

That would make 9 out of 12 golfers part of the process. Isn’t that democracy?

Of course it only works if everyone does their part. If any one piece falters or fails to do their job it will create chaos at Broken Joe GOLF.

On the other hand, maybe you all really do enjoy living in the “Camelot” that Broken Joe Golf currently affords you.

Most of the time I don’t really mind being King.
