Since this was just a regular week I decided to make it a little interest by trying to put players together by handicap in a "Mano e Mano" mid-season show down.
Match One: Teflon Dave vs Eric:

When you just look at handicaps (14 vs 31) there isn’t much to see here but Eric and Dave have this weird rivalry. After the front nine the score was Dave – 45 & Eric – 48. The handicap score was Dave 38 (+3), Eric 33 (-2). That means Eric was up by 5 at the turn. I thought Dave was in serious trouble but he just shrugged it off. Dave said he hadn’t played great on the front and then he told me that Eric was going to burnout because he was “old”.
The back nine was not pretty…for Eric. Eric had been scoring 5s and 6s on the front. but on the back they had turned in to 7s, and 8 and a 10. Dave on the other hand, having only 2 pars on the front, now had 5 pars on the back. Back nine score: Dave 41 , Eric 61. The handicap score was Dave 34 (-2), Eric 45 (+9). Final score: Dave – 86 (72 / +1), Eric – 109 (78 / +6)
Match Two: Big Daddy vs Broken Joe:

It was a see-saw battle most of the day. Joe went down early by 2 after the second hole. Joe got one back on the 4th and the 6th to get back to even and then immediately went down 2 again after the 7th. Joe gets one back after 8 and then gives it right back on the 9th. After 9, Chris is up by 2, 49 to 51.
The back nine didn’t start out well for Joe. By the 12th hole Joe is down by 6. But then Joe’s luck starts to change and Chris gets a 6 on the 14th hole Par 3. Joe is down by 3. On the 15th hole Joe gets another one back and he is only down by 2. Chris puts the wheels back on and they tie each of the last 3 holes. Joe’s come back has failed and Chris wins by 2. Final score: Chris – 96 (75 / +4), Joe – 98 (76 / +5)
Match Three: Party Man Dan vs Ray (of Sunshine):

The 2016 Winter Classic Champion immediately jumps on Ray and is up by 2 after the first hole. Ray fights back and after 3 holes he is now up by one.. Party Man Dan crashes and burns on the 4th hole par 5 by scoring an 11 while Ray gets a 7. Ray is now up by 5. Dan mounts his own comeback but he runs out of holes and after nine he finds himself down by 3, Ray – 52, Dan – 55.
Once the 10th hole is completed, Dan systematically just starts to overwhelm Ray and by the time the smoke clears Ray is battered and bloody. Dan wins the back nine by 10. Not only that but Dan takes 9 stokes off his front nine score. Final: Dan – 101 (73 / +2), Ray – 108 (80 / +9).
Match Four: Matty Ice vs Professor Matt

Matty Ice starts the match out strong and is up by 3 after the first 2 holes but then gives all 3 strokes back on the 3rd hole. By the end of the 6th hole Matty Ice is up by 4. Matt T fights back but at the end of the front 9 he is down by 2. Matty Ice– 52, Matt T – 55.
On the back nine Matt T all but gives up his Man Card because after the 13th hole Matty Ice is up by 11. Matt T makes one last attempt for a comeback by shooting Par to Matty Ice's 6 on the 14th hole and now he is only down by 8. Matty Ice gives Matt T the one – two combination knock out puch and Matt T loses by 12. Final score: Matty ICE- 108 (72 / +1), Matt T – 120 (84 / +13). Matty Ice has not seen a score that low since April 30th 2016.
Match 5: Bryan and Joe T

After tying on the first hole, Bryan comes out swinging and before Joe T can get his hands up he is down by 6 with only 3 holes left to play on the front. Joe T manages to get 2 back on the 6th and 8th holes but he is still down by 4 after the front nine. Bryan – 44, Joe T – 48.
The back nine: Joe T comes off the ropes strong and takes 3 strokes back on 10 and 11. Joe T is now only down by one. After both shooting an 8 and 6 on the 12th and 13th holes, Joe T finally gets even on the 14th hole. Bryan and Joe T go even for the 16th and 17th hole. On the 18th hole, Bryan gives Joe T a swift kick in the nuts by scoring a 5 to Joe T's 6 to win by one. Final Score: Bryan – 95 (72 / +1), Joe T – 96 (73 / +2).
Haphazard Match 6: Mountian Man Jake vs Rock

While Jake and Rock are not close in handicap nor did they even play together, I thought I would still wrap up this segment by having pairing up everyone Mano e Mano.
At the end of the front 9 Jake shoots a 44 and a handicap score of 35 (even par). Rock shots a 52 and a handicap score of 38. Rock is only down by 3 and I’m sure that an 8 on the 2nd hole and a 10 on the par 5, 4th hole didn’t help.
The back 9 – Jake adds three more pars to the three he had in the front but he did have a bunch of 6s on the back nine. Rock goes 9, 8 5 and 8 on holes 12, 13, 14 and 15. Final Score: Jake – 90 (72 / +1), Rock – 108 (80 / +9).
