After 27 weeks or 14 rounds of golf, we are almost to the end. It has been a long and somethimes complicated journey.
After the WCC, we went from 12 golfers down to 8. Four missed the cut but we didn’t know who the last player to be cut was until almost the end of the week. If Dan played the WCC, he was in, if he didn’t he was out and Matt T was in. As it turned out, Dan could not play and he suffered the resulting cut.
Dave – Out

Jake – Out

Dan – Out

Matty Slush – Out (color me surprised).

That left Chris, Joe, Joe T, Bryan, Rock, Rey, Eric and Matt T to play at Veterans on Oct 14th. I set the carts up by how we finished the WCC. At the last minute Bryan could not play with us and had to move his round to the following Friday all the while knowing that the Championship would be that next Saturday. Joe T, Rock and Bryan were playing in a tournament after our first round, another week of 36 holes for these gentlemen.
It was a cold start in fact when I left my house it was 37 degrees, BURRRRR.

It was a shot gun start. Rock, me, Joe T and Eric started on the 3rd hole.

Chris, Rey and Matt T started on the 4th hole.

Right from the start Rock was having problems with his driver, as good as it was during the WCC, it was that bad for Round One.

I didn’t feel like I was playing well because of the string of 6s but fortunately for me I hadn’t gotten any 7s, 8s or 9s like my playing partners.
At the end of our first 9 holes the scores were:
Joe – 49
Joe T - 50
Eric – 51
Chris – 54
Rey – 55
Rock – 56
Matt T – 68
The day had really warmed up nice and in fact it was getting hot. Was it really October in Massachusetts?
We all managed to play much better during the next nine holes, that is except Matt T. Matt T’s game was so bad he looked like Matty Slush. If I had know that Matt T was ging to play that bad I would have let Dan in.
To the displeasure of my competitors, I finished the last 4 holes with Par, Par, 7 and Birdie. On the other side of the spectrum Matt T finishes his last 3 holes 10. 15 and 15. That could be a new record.
