Pine Knoll – Championship of the World

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine asked me if I had played golf before. The answer, of course, was yes but it was usually a once a year military adventure that included alcohol.

He had a "buy one get one free" Groupon for The Ranch Golf Course, so OB and I plus a couple of other jarheads played the round.

It was a cool golf course but back then I played golf like Matty Slush, Jon, and Adam. I was easily shooting in the 120s or 130s. I could hit a golf ball so far right, it was wrong. I once hit a tee shot so far right I thought it was going to come back and hit me. Most times it was really embarrassing. I used to aim way left just to have a shot at the fairway but I would lose so much distance it wasn’t funny.

Fortunately, through personal pride, and the commitment to be a better player, I have made it to the 80s club and won some trophies along the way.

Anyway, when we first started playing golf, we played a lot at Pine Knoll. I was tired of getting my ass kicked each time so I made the suggestion that the first 17 holes were only practice. If you wanted to win, you had to win the 18th hole and that is how the “Championship of the World” started.

We will tally the score from all 18 holes in order to figure out the Fed Up Cup points but if you want to be the Champion of the World you are going to need to win that last hole, alone and to be the last man standing. Depending on how many people are behind us, we will re-play the 18th hole between 3 and 5 times

Let's say 5 people tie with a 4 on the 18th hole. Those 5 people will go back to the 18th tee box and try again. We will keep this up until we have a winner or we have tried it 5 times, after that we will have a putt off and the winner will be crowned Champion of the World.

All Broken Joe Golf rules apply with the additional rule being that everyone will play from the Pine Knoll tee boxes. The ball must be in the tee box. You can put the ball on the tee or on the artificial turf, you can stand off the tee box but the ball must be within the tee box.

Fenway Golf /Knoll Par 3 address is 112 Allen St, East Longmeadow, MA. We will meet at Pine Knoll at 8:30 and we should be done by 10:30.

Groupings for the "Championship of the World",

Group One: Joe, Chris and Dave

Group Two: Rock, Jake and Bryan

Group Three: Dan, Adam and Jon

Joe T is take this round off. Can Adam and Jon take advantage of this gift?

As a reminder, the American Freedom Open is July 15th, 2018 at Veterans Golf Course. That’s right boys, we are finally going home. The American Freedom Open is worth 500 Fed Up Cup points.
