Joe T asked the question – Can he bring 2 other golfers to play with us on Sunday? As the Commissioner, my answer was “maybe” and that is still my answer for the following reasons.

Number One - Monday is a workday, at least it is for me and I don’t really have the time or the patience to write 6 pages of reasons on my phone.

Number Two: Chris and I played with a couple of good guys on Sunday. Chris thought enough of them to ask if they wanted to play with us next Sunday and maybe be part of Broken Joe Golf. They work 2nd shift so I didn’t really think the commitment was there but they were the type of guys that may help us grow the league.

Number Three: This is our 3rd Major and it is worth a lot of Fed Up Cup points and I am not willing to move our Broken Joe Golf people around in order to accommodate 2 extra people. If they were part of “Jerry’s Kids” or the “Make a Wish Foundation” then I would give up my spot in a second but I am not going to ask our golfers, who have been committed and competitive to waiver on our camaraderie for 2 guys that don’t play with us week in and week out. I am sure that they are great guys but I will not ask Rock, who is just 14 points from the top of the leaderboard, to go play with Group 3. I am also not comfortable asking Bryan, The “Mister Champion” to move to Group 3.

Number Four: Do these 2 guys want to play golf with Broken Joe Golf or do they just want to play golf with Joe T. If they just want to play golf with Joe T then that is what Saturday or the odd weekend is for.

Broken Joe Golf is built on the foundation of three principles, Commitment, Competition, and Camaraderie. All of my decisions as the Commissioner are based on that ideology. It is not about the number of golfers we have, it is about the quality of golfers we have.

I have brought this subject up to the Competition Committee and here is their ruling:

"Yes, there are two open spots for the “2018 American Freedom Open” but we cannot allow any extra, outside forces to change the dynamics of our groupings, especially since there are only 3 rounds of golf before the Fed Up Cup playoffs and this Sunday is a Major.

However there is an option: If Chris Cirelli and Chris Skideri just want to play golf with us on Sunday then everyone can move up a spot and they can fill in the last two spots. No harm, no foul.

Group One

Cart One: Joe and Dave

Cart Two: Chris and Jake

Group Two

Cart Three: Rock and Bryan

Cart Four: Dan & Joe T

Group Three:

Cart Five: Adam and Jon

Cart Six: Chris Cirelli and Chris Skideri

Like I said, maybe. It just depends on what the two Chris’s want to do.

We could use them to close the pairing for "Match Play" on July 29th, just saying....

Respectfully,

Broken Joe,

Commissioner
