BJG FedUp Cup Playoffs - Round One Results

And we are off, the FedUp Cup Playoffs have begun and as usually, not the way anyone expected.
First, Dave had a birthday party to attend in Saratoga (I thought Birthday Parties was Dan’s thing?) but Adam was more than willing to step up and take his place. Bryan also had a family event and was unable to play.. Jon was able to step in for Bryan. In both cases, family comes first plus “Happy Wife = Happy Life”. Adam and Jon had to be thrilled to play in there first FedUp Cup, especially in their rookie year.
Truth be told, it was a little aniti-climatic, it would have been more nerve wracking if the top 8 golfers were playing on Suday. I was hoping that Adam would find that same magic that he had during the BGJ Championship where he shot a 108 but Hickory Ridge Golf Course is no joke.
First Nine:
We started on the 10th hole with Rock, Adam, Dan and Joe T in Group One. Jake, Chris, Joe and Jon were in Group Two.
First Nine Scores:
Jake – 42
Joe – 48
Chris – 51
Rock – 51
Adam – 58
Dan – 58
Cut Line
Joe T – 61
Jon – 78
Jake continued to play the same golf that led him to victory at the BJG Championship. Once again he was crushing his driver. Joe was playing ok but scoring a 10 on the 18th hole is just never going make everything ok. Chris had his own 7 and 8 which just put him on the wrong side of 50. Jon was struggling, for some reason he had the yipes and that ball kept going directly right.
Rock was playing well with a couple of pars. Adam and Dan continued their battle right where they left off from the BJG Championship, both shooting 58. Joe T was the odd man out in that group with his 61. Of course, hittig a golf ball INTO and then OUT OF a golf cart could not help anyone’s score.

Second Nine:
Nornally the front nine is easier than the back nine but not at Hickory Ridge. We had a birdie and 8 pars on the back nine. On the front nine we could only muster 3 pars.
Second Nine Scores:
Joe T – 50
Jake – 51
Chris – 53
Dan – 55
Joe – 59
Rock – 60
Cut Line
Adam – 69
Jon – 74
Joe T steps up his game and shoots 11 strokes less then his first nine. Jake's driver starts to have some problems and he doesn’t make the 80s. Chris stays on track even with a 10 on his score card. Dan finally slaps Adam into reality and shots a 55 while Adam shoots a 69. Joe and Rock fall way off the pace and score 59 and 60. Joe better find a way to finish 18 holes and find his driver or he is going to be in trouble in the second round.
Group Two almost had a DNF because as we came up to the 9th Hole (our last hole), the tournment had started and there was at least 8 people waiting to tee off. They told us that the tournment was starting and the the Ranger was getting the "earlier golfers" off the course. Chris wasn’t hearing that and told that group that he would leave when the Ranger caught up to him. We jump in front of them and commenced to play speed golf.
I had the pleasure of riding with Jon today. Jon's most commented saying was “Anyone see my ball?” Mine was (to Jon) “Was that a pratice swing?” Of course, Jon never slowed down between his wiffed shot and his next shot which means that I was talking during his (2nd) swing. My bad.

Final Score (Actual Scores)
Jake – 96 (93)
Chris – 104 (104)
Joe – 107 (107)
Rock – 108 (111)
Dan – 110 (113)
Joe T – 111 (111)
Missed cut for the second time
Adam – 121 (127)
Jon – 146 (152)
Congratulations to the top 6 golfers moving forward.
Round 2 is scheduled (since Februray) for Sept 2nd 2018 at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Feeding Hills.
I will ask Uncle Mikey to pull the names for the cart assignments on Thursday (Family Night), that is if he isn't at MGM again.

Since there are 6 of us we will have 2 groups with 3 golfers each. I will make 3 tee times in case Dave, Bryan, Adam and Jon want to play.
Oak Ridge is having a 7:30am shotgun start on Sunday and no, not the same kind of shotgun that Hickory Ridge had.
