“The Rider Cup” is our version of the “Ryder Cup” and is played after the Fed Up Cup around the same time of year.
Since this is our first year using “The Rider Cup”, I decided that Jon and Adam should be our team captains. With 10 golfers that would mean that we would have 2 teams of 5 golfers each. That was until Joe T remembered that his golf season was over. Now we are down to 9 golfers. This is no problem for your Commissioner, I call Dan, ask him to be the 3rd Captain and now we will have 3 teams.
I met the 3 Captains at Benson Bagels on Sumner Ave at 8:30 on Saturday. The plan was that Jon would have the first pick, Adam gets the second pick and then Dan would get 2 picks. Adam would pick his 3rd player and then Jon would have the final golfer.
In what I thought was a surprise Number One pick, Jon chooses JAKE. Not that is was a crazy pick; I just did not see it coming. Jon’s thought was that Jake was having a great year, his driver has been amazing and he thought that Jake can beat Dave outright.
If you thought the Number One pick was surprising, you should have been there when Adam choose Rock with the second pick. Again, not a terrible pick, just not what I thought was going happen. Adam was thinking that Rock has played every week and was the winner of the FED UP Cup so he felt that this was his best choice.
I almost felt like Dave was Geno Smith during the 2013 NFL Draft when he fell all the way to the second round. At least Dave didn’t have to sit in the green room and watch this live.

Dan finally brings back some normalcy to the picks and chooses his brother, Dave and then for his next pick chooses Joe.
For the 5th pick, Adam chooses Bryan and Jon gets Chris as the final pick.
“The Rider Cup” Teams:
Jon (Captain)
Jake
Chris
Adam (Captain)
Rock
Bryan
Dan (Captain)
Dave
Joe
Since Jon had the first pick and Dan had a double pick, Adam got to choose the golf course. Adam chose Veteran’s Golf Course in Springfield and we will play a “Scramble” golf match. Each team will hit a ball and then play the “best ball” where everyone hits a ball again. We will not be using BJG handicaps and lowest score will win the trophy.
In case there is a tie, the Captains will choose their champion and play a sudden death playoff.
Tee Times and Groups:
Veteran's is supposed to have a 9am Shotgun on Sunday, Oct 7th, 2018. I will double check on Tuesday.

Respectfully,
Broken Joe
