Note from the Commissioner: I had asked the team captains to do a write up about the day and their team.
Captain Adam:
"What a day for golf and what a way to start the day! There were some questions and bruised egos regarding team choice but I could tell everyone on my team came to play… Team B.A.R. (Bryan, Adam & Rock). With a name like that in this league, how could we not be a lock for the win?
We make the trip to the furthest hole possible, the 2nd longest hole on the course, number 14. Bryan and I hit 2 very playable balls but Rock unleashes a 270 yard bomb placed perfectly in the center of the fair way. I was feeling good and started thinking it's going to be an easy day until I saw their 2nd shots. I guess I’d have to pull out my favorite club, the 3H, to get us our best follow up shot. Rock places a great chip 8ft from the hole and Bryan steps up to knock in the Birdie. We’re feeling good.
On the next hole we use my tee shot, Rocks chip & Bryan’s putt. With a Birdie and Par we quickly start to question how our competitors are doing. We catch up to Dan, Dave & Joe with a Bogie on the 16th but, hearing their bogies out number ours, we start to settle in. We play consistent to finish the back and move across the street.
On Hole 1, Rock launches another rocket that lets Dan, Dave & Joe know we are still behind them because his shot lands on the fringe while they are still on the green.

We stick to the method of me putting first in the group and I start to line up my put. We hear a faint 'Fore!,' a wiz over my head and Rock’s leg gets skimmed. It wakes us up and we finish up with a 2 putt for birdie.
Hole 2 was filled with twos… Bryan hits a great 2nd shot, we 2 putt and Rock runs back to the Club House.
We put down some Bogey’s and Pars. A quiet falls on the team as we try to refocus and try to find out how the competition is faring. We get smoke, mirrors and lies.
We arrive at the 9th hole and, the only thing we’re certain of is, we need to make up some strokes. Rock crushes his drive and goes 1st on the 2nd shot. He decides to lay it up but fortune favors the bold. I hit my 3H over the water into the rough before the sand trap. Rock was pleased that we didn’t just go for another layup and we're over the water but Bryan decides to pull out his Hybrid to show us how it’s done. It sounds good, it looks great it and settles about 7ft from the pin. We’re not Birdie hunting any more. We’re looking for an Eagle. Bryan is in the zone and he doesn’t wait for us while he walks out onto the green to sink his putt. We’re feeling great as we swing around to the start the back and knowing we need to keep up the momentum. The rest of the holes we try our best to put on a clinic and finish strong with a +2.
This ends the round with a surprising tie with Chris, Jake & John.

The Golf Gods demanded a Sudden Death Playoff and we were standing in front of the Par 3 15thHole.
Before I knew it, my team abandoned me and I was not given the option of doing anything but playing this hole. I just needed to keep my head down when swinging and continue doing what I was doing all day. My shot off the tee box is good. My shot lands closer than the first time I played the hole and my team used my shot off the tee box in regulation play.I chip onto the green with a makeable putt but I end up missing Par. I finish by two putting my team to glory. Truly an all-around team effort!"
Captain Dan: "Tragic..." (I guess if you don't have anything nice to say, you shouldn't say anything.)

Captain Jon: I have not heard from Jon since the end of the 2018 Rider Cup (6 days). Maybe he is still thinking about what to write but the blog must go on.

Final Score:
Team Adam: +2 and wins the playoff hole (4 to 5)
Team Jon: +2
Team Dan: +6
Congratulations to Team B. A. R. (Bryan, Adam and Rock)
And a big Thank You to Adam for the great write up and photos.
The Winter Classic Championship is Oct 21st, 2018. St Annes has an event that day so I will confer with the Deputy Commissioner and find a new course. Stay tuned for that post.
Respectfully,
