The Ides of March

According to Wikipedia, “The Ides of March" is a day on the Roman calendar that corresponds to 15 March. It was marked by several religious observances and was notable for the Romans as a deadline for settling debts.

It is interesting that the "Ides of March" also coincides with the next deadline to pay your 2019 Broken Joe GOLF Fee. If you missed the first deadline that ended on Feb 24th then just add $10.00 ($45 becomes $55 and $80 becomes $90). This new price is only good until March 16th and then it goes up another $10.00.

We did just sign up a new Golfer. His name is Steve and somehow he knows Dave yet he still wants to play golf with us. This means that we now have 14 Golfers and we should be able to fulfill our events evenly without doing anything crazy.

I am just about finished with the 2019 Rules of Broken Joe GOLF. That should be the next blog post that comes out. I will host a meeting on Sunday, March 31st to go over these rules. Keep your eyes and ears open for the exact time. I should have a Rules Booklet ready by then too.

Last but not least, at the Winter Meetings, the 2019 schedule was discussed and the schedule has been on the website since Jan 25th but we are just noticing that our first event, "The Pretenders", is scheduled for Sunday, April 21st which is also Easter. We can discuss this at the Rules Meeting. If we cannot decide on an optional date then we will stick with the original date and move on with our lives.

Upcoming Events:

March 10th - Daylight Savings Time

March 17th – St Patty’s Day

March 17th to April 8th – March Madness

March 20th - Spring

March 22nd, 23rd and 24th - CT Golf Expo in Hartford, CT.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe

Commissioner
