Dave has won the first Major of the 2019 season; Dave has won the 2019 Mister’s Championship.

It has been 974 days or 32.46 months or 2.67 years since he last won a Broken Joe Golf event.

The date, September 3rd, 2016. In fact, Dave won 4 events in 2016, with 2 of those events being Majors. Dave did “win” the 2017 Chosen FORE Alt shot Tournament, but the fact of the matter is that Dave’s partner, Matty Slush, never showed up and Matt T’s partner, Jake, ghosted him after the front nine. We, as a group, felt bad for these two and allowed them to play together as a team.

I thought Dave was going to win the Pretenders, but Bryan had a great game and tied Dave with an 89 for the win. Dave wasn’t having any of that this time and shot an 87 for the Misters.

Front Nine:

I don’t know what the whole story was, but the 3rd group was still at (not on) the 1st tees when the 1st group finished the 2nd hole. The 3rd group was still waiting on Jake. Unbeknownst, to those players, Jake went home to change clothes. I have no idea what time that 3rd group even started.

For the most part, it was still pretty close, and everyone had a shot at the green jacket. Well, maybe not Nick.

Back Nine: Well, everyone thought they had a shot... On the back nine, Dave gets seven pars… in a row, holes 12 – 18. Dave was able to par Franconia’s “Amen Corner” while the rest of us did not fare quite so well. In fact, Dave was the only one to par the 12th hole; Jake was the only other golfer to par the 13th hole . Dan and Joe T were the only other golfer sto par the 14th hole.

Sometime just before dark, the 3rd group finally showed up and turned in their scorecard. Hell, Adam went out and played another 9 holes while we waited for that last group.

By now, a couple of things must have become clear. First, we were missing four golfers. I knew Chris C was going to be on the Cape.

Bryan was in California (dreaming he was going to take the red-eye home with a wife and child).

Chris was busy telling people to stay off his yard,

and Matt must have thought he was back in Florida because he was sound asleep when it was time to play golf. I told you, at least Jon will show up…

Second, Nick (Veto) is our newest member of Broken Joe Golf. This means that we will have three golfers fighting for the "2019 Rookie of The Year”.
