Dave is the currently the hottest golfer on tour at Broken Joe Golf this year, earning his 2nd Major win in 2019. Of course, there were only 7 golfers that attended this critical Major.
Apple Hill is a beautiful golf course. The front is pretty wide open with no hazards, but it is very hilly. Just think up and then down. The back is much flatter (except for 10 going down and 18 going up), but there is a lot more water, and it can be very narrow.

Front 9:
The front nine scores were close with lots of player in the green (Pars).
Front Nine Scores: Cody – 38 (Five Pars and a Birdie) Dave – 45 (Two Pars and a 7) Jake – 46 (Three Pars and Two 7s) Joe – 47 (Two Pars and an 8) Chris – 48 (A Par and an 8) Dan – 51 (Two 7s and an 8) Matt – 66 (A Par, two 7s, an 8, 9, 10 and an 11)
Back 9: Except for Dave, the back nine was tough for all of us, , each having to deal with some adversity.
Back Nine Scores: Dave – 45 (Three Pars and finished the back nine unscathed.
Jake – 50 – Jake battled Dave hard all day, but a costly mistake at the 17th Hole Par 3 caused him to score an 8.
Cody – 51 – Cody went from +3 on the front nine to +16 on the back nine. He had a couple of triple bogeys and an 8 on 14th Hole, Par 3. This is the second time we have seen Cody having trouble closing out all 18 holes.
Chris – 53 – Chris plays well on the back but gets a triple bogey and then a 9 on the last Hole.
Joe – 56 – Joe starts the back with a 13 but tries not to let it affect him, and he shoots par on the next 2 holes. The pressure of that 13 finally gets to him, and he gets a 7 on the Par 3 and an 8 on the final Hole.
Dan – 60 – Dan starts off the back with a 12 and an 8 but then grabs a couple of Pars. Dan then finishes the 17th Hole Par 3 with a 9 and a 7 on the last Hole.
Matt – 70 – Matt finishes the back with only an additional 4 strokes from his front nine scores. Matt's golfing skills were in high gear as he shoots a 7, 8, Four 9s, a 10 and an 11.
Final Score (Actual Score)
1st Place: Dave – 96 (90) 2nd Place: Jake – 99 (96) 3rd Place: Cody – 101 (89) 3rd Place: Chris – 101 (101) 5th Place: Joe – 103 (103) 6th Place: Dan – 108 (111) 7th Place: Matt – 130 (136)
Race to Big Y / Fed Up Cup Points
1st – Dave – 104 2nd – Jake – 98 3rd – Chris & Cody – 89 5th – Joe – 80 6th – Dan – 73 7th – Matt – 67
Fed Up Cup Points: 1st – Dave – 235 2nd – Jake – 200 3rd – Joe – 190 4th – Dan – 178 5th – Chris – 130 6th – Rock – 123 7th – Cody – 119 8th – Joe T – 118 9th – Rey – 91 10th – Matt – 90 11th – Steve – 74 12th – Adam – 69
-----CUT LINE----- 13th – Jon – 57 14th – Bryan – 43 15th – Chris C – 41 16th – Nick – 41
Dave is clearly out in front but Jake, Joe and Dan are still in the hunt. Chris, Rock, Cody and Joe T need some wins to close the gap. Rey, Matt, Steve and Adam need to play well and keep their eyes on that cutline. A win at one of the last two Majors will do everyone's points a world of good but in order to win, you have to play.
Scenes from Hampton Beach:

On Sunday morning, Fathers Day, we woke up with the thought of having a great breakfast before we started our long ride home. By the time the group all arrived at IHOP, the place was packed. We called Linda's Diner to see if they were busy and the woman said there was no one there. We get to Linda's and the place is mobbed. Hungry and needing to get on the road, we knew we only had one choice....

There are only 4 playing weeks left before the Fed Up Cup starts. Fortunately, for some of you, there are 2 Majors left to be played, giving you a chance to make the cut and be one of the top 12 golfers. Or not...
Sunday, June 30th is the "Championship of the World" at Pine Knoll. I will send out all the details next week.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe Commissioner
