1. THE WAR: Cody versus Dave (+6)

Cody vs. Dave is the war of the Broken Joe Golf Heavy Weights. Dave used to be our number one handicap golfer, but Cory walked in and snatched that title away from him. Could Dave, being dropped to the second spot, be what sparked Dave to win 2 Majors in 2019.
Cory led his team to victory at the Chosen Fore and grabbed both the trophy AND the belt at the Championship of the World. Cody vs. Dave should be a great War.
Can Cody play strong for all 18 holes? Does Dave have the heart to withstand the charge that Cody will probably bring to the table on the front nine?
2. THE GREAT HYPE: Jake versus Joe (+3)

Joe played great golf in 2018, winning two majors and the Winter Classic Championship.
Jake was no slacker winning the Championship of the World and the BJG Championship. In fact, Jake and Joe each won one of the first two rounds of the 2018 Fed UP Cup.
But this isn't 2018, and Joe is not the golfer he was then plus he has a new driver that he has not been able to tamed yet., Jake, on the other hand, has embraced his slice and is playing very well. Joe needs to find some magic if he doesn't want to be a hyped up
has- been.
3. REDEMPTION: Chris versus Bryan

Chris has not been playing great golf, and he did miss one Major, but at least he is playing golf. Chris is also the winner of the 2019 3 Club Challenge (3rd time).
Byran has missed 3 out of seven weeks of BJG but Bryan has won the 2019 Pretenders and the 2019 American Freedom Open.
Judging from the American Freedom Open, Bryan and Chris may be hitting their stride at just about the right time. Chris will have the added motivation to extract redemption after losing the American Freedom Open to Bryan by one stroke.
4. THE THRILLA IN THE MIDDLE: Joe T verses Cirelli

On paper, this doesn't look like a great matchup, and if Joe T plays well and Chris C plays like crap, then this will be a terrible matchup. However, both golfers have not taken advantage of some decent nine-hole scores this year.
This matchup should be intriguing, and as luck would have it, Joe T was hoping to be able to play at least one round of golf with Cirelli this year. Poof, wish came true. Joe T is sitting right in the middle of the points and Chris C may be waiting for a re-start... next year.
5. FINALLY: Rey versus Rock

Rock and Rey is another exciting match up and I finally get the match up that I have been waiting to see since 2017. Rey has the style, but Rock brings the power.
Rock is playing well this year and had he not missed the Fathers and Uncles Invitational; he might be much higher on the leaderboard.
Currently, Rey has an average score of 103 and Rock has an average score of 104 but you have to give the advantage to Rock. Rock has only missed one week of golf while Rey has only played three weeks. It would seem that Rey just isn't that interested in playing golf this year, at least not with us. Rey needs the points, or he isn't going to make the cut.
6. THE MUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE: Dan versus Steve

Dan started the year playing well, but then he had some trouble at the 3 Club Challenge. Cody carried Dan at the Chosen Fore, and he finished next to last at Fathers & Uncles Invitational. Dan skipped the Championship of the World, and he was AWFUL at the American Freedom Open.
Steve had some beginner's luck at the Pretenders, but then he brought in some high scores at The Misters and the 3 Club Challenge (Steve played better with just three clubs then he did at The Misters). Steve missed the Fathers and Uncles Invitational, and he did not play great golf at the Championship of the World, but he did play good golf at the American Freedom Open.
The questions are, Which Dan is going to show for Match Play? Can Steve deal with the pressure of his first Match Play?
Dan could always ask Chris for more golf lesson or pay Chris to work with Steve. The mumbling on the street is that Dan is on his way down and Steve is on his way up.
7. KOTC-DUE PROCESS: Adam verses ?

Adam has been playing pretty good golf this year and even with his 110, his highest score of 2019 at the American Freedom Open, he still finished near the middle of the pack.
Question is who should be Adam's opponent? Jon, Matt, and Nick have been playing dreadful golf… Due to my process, let's save Adam's opponent until the end.
8. PONG: Matt versus Jon

This last match has been the hardest match up to put together because of just how bad Jon, Matt, and Nick have been playing. Matching any of these two together would be a good match. In the end, I chose Jon vs. Matt. Neither golfer has improved during their time at Broken Joe Golf, so maybe one of them will at least play for pride.
That leaves Nick to play Adam. I think way deep down, Nic is a better golfer than Matt or Jon. I hope that Nick, being a rookie at Broken Joe Golf, has not played his best golf yet and will give Adam a good match.
Don't forget, Adam and Matt are sitting precariously at the 11th and 12th spot with Rey, Chris C, Jon and Nic needing to play well if they hope to move up the leaderboard. Opportunity is knocking, is anyone going to answer?
I was going to do our Match Play like the PGA does it, but that would mean that eight golfers would have a score of zero and they would have all tie for 8th place. After talking with the Deputy Commissioner, we have decided to continue playing BJG Match Play.
Broken Joe Golf Match Play (not PGA Match Play) is a simple concept with the same rules that we have used over the last 3 years. Your mission is to dominate your opponent and ultimately win 18 holes and lose none. Of course since we are using our 2019 BJG handicaps that probably will never happen but it is your goal. You get one point for each hole you win. If we have a tie for first place, we will have a putt off.
Since this is a tournament, cart assignments are randomly drawn . Thank you Uncle Mikey for picking the cart assignments. Please arrive by 8:00am so I can give you your score cards. Last golfer to show up buys the first round.of beer.
