Here we are, almost half way through our regular season. It time to take a little breather, have a little fun, and find out who the Champion of the World will be for 2024.
When my brother, Chris, and I first started playing golf, we played a lot at Pine Knoll. I was tired of getting my ass kicked each time, so I suggested that the first 17 holes were only practice. If you wanted to win, you had to win the 18th hole. That is how the "Championship of the World" started.
Past Winners (Champion & Low Score)
2018: Jake & Joe
2019: Cody & Cody
2020: Rock & Cody
2021: Cody & Joe
2022: Joe T & Dave
2023: Adam 1 & Adam 1
We will tally the score from all 18 holes to figure out the winner by score (trophy), but if you want to be the "Champion of the World ", you are going to need to win that last hole, alone, and to be the last man standing. Depending on how many people are behind us, we will replay the 18th hole, up to 5 times.
Let's say 5 people are tied with a score of 3 on the 18th hole. Those 5 people will return to the 18th tee box and try again. We will keep this up until we have a winner or have tried it 5 times.
All Broken Joe Golf rules apply, with the additional rule being that everyone will play from the Pine Knoll tee boxes.
Your ball must be in the tee box. You can put the ball on the tee or the artificial turf. You can even stand outside the tee box, but the ball must be in the tee box. Since it is an Executive Golf Course, we will not be using any Broken Joe Golf handicaps.
The “Championship of the World” is worth a total of 182 Points. 26 Points for 1st Place and 2 Points for Last Place.
The lowest score will win the Trophy and receive an additional 1 point. The winner of the 18th hole will be our 2024 Champion of the World (Belt) and will receive an additional 2 points.
Fenway Golf address is 112 Allen St, East Longmeadow, MA. Pine Knoll is actually on Porter Rd. If you are coming down the hill on Allen St, you will see Fenway Golf on your left (Driving Range, Putt Putt Golf and the main building. Turn left at the stop sign (Porter Road) and then Pine Knoll will be the next left.
The cost is $18.00 plus there is an additional $3.00 fee if you want to rent a pull cart.
We will be at Pine Knoll for 9:00 am and should be finished playing around 11:30 am. We will then have about a half hour of "social" time and wrap everything up somewhere around Noon. The gate doesn't usually open before 9am.
I will have water on the course, and I will have drinks and chips after the event.
James is off this week, so we will have a couple more free points.
Groups and Tee Times
Group One – 9:15: Adam & Mike
Group Two – 9:22: JT, & Rob & Matt
Group Three - 9:29: Stephen, Rey & Joe
Group Four - 9:36: Joe T, Dustin & EJ
Closets to the Hole will be on the 95 yard, Hole 11. Group One will bring the BJG Equipment and Group Four will bring it back to Joe T.
Please let me know if you are not playing in the “Championship of the World”.
Don't forget we are playing back-to-back Sundays with the Fathers & Uncles Invitational being played on June 9th at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
