After not being able to find a golf course for the Misters, Rolling Meadows answered the call and proved a worthy adversary.

Rolling Meadow’s is a hard golf course, harder than most of us remembered. The fairways are narrow and sloped with most of them being treelined. There were no leaves on the trees, but the leaves under the trees would be problematic.

The greens must be where they came up with the name “Rolling Meadows” and the pin placement was as brutal as could be. As if that was enough, it was a cold and windy day.

I studied the course online and watched videos of each hole. I had created a “note sheet” for each hole and a “handicap” scorecard to ensure my winning of the Misters. I had done my homework and my research. Of course, everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face.

My very first drive went so far right, I thought it might come back to me. Two 8s on the first 2 holes and I knew I was in trouble. I slowly dropped the driver, and then putting away the 4 hybrid and the 5 iron. On the final hole, I was down to my 7 iron, the only club I trusted at this point.

As I look at the scorecards, I can see the same disappointing story for each of us. When Cody says that he is just trying to play “bogey golf”, you know the rest of us are in trouble.

Yes, I will save you the sad stories of the day. You have each experienced them and or witnessed them.

Adam, on the hand, stayed true to himself and played each of his clubs, never once thinking about abandoning them for something “safer”. Adam made at least 3 long putts that only helped to lower his score. At the end of the day, Adam played his game and was rewarded as our 2023 Misters Champion. This is Adam's first Major championship win.

As I look at the final scores it reminds me of the 2022 Fed Up Cup scores, except this time Adam would not be denied the win. For Cody and Jason, it was another bitter reminder of that disappointing day.

Adam jumps out in front, but the points are spread out, and things could change at the Chubby Classic.

The good news is that you have a couple of weeks to figure out what went wrong at the Misters.

The Chubby Classic will be played on April 23rd, 2023 at Agawam Municipal Golf Course.

If you are looking for a “practice round” we have the Non-BJG” golf event scheduled on April 16th, 2023. More information will be provided at a later date. Let Joe T know if you are interested.

Once again, congratulations to Adam for winning the Misters and the L. I. V. Division trophies, and to Cody for winning the P. G. A. Division Trophy.

I hope you all have a Happy Easter.
