Rey wins the “Victory or Valhalla”. Not only did Rey win his first trophy of 2021, he finds himself in the 80s club as well. Plus he smoked the competition and won the longest drive completion. Not bad for a day's work.

Dustin, Dan, Matt T, and Jon did not play and BJG welcomes back Nic after a long layoff.

Front Nine Scores:

1st: EJ – 40.5 (55)

2nd: Joe – 43 (43)

3rd: Rey – 44.5 (45)

4th: Tim – 46 (41)

5th: Jake – 47 (45)

5th: Joe T – 47 (47)

7th: Rock – 47.5 (48)

8th: Matty Ice: 48.5 (55)

8th: Juan – 48.5 (52)

8th: Nic – 48.5 (55)

11th: Dave: 49 (46)

12th: Cody – 49.5 (42)

13th: Adam – 50.5 (56)

13th: Bryan – 50.5 (48)

15th: Chris – 57.5 (58)

EJ is out front after the first nine, but it is not really a big surprise. EJ has probably played more rounds at Franconia in the last two weeks than most of you have played there in the last 3 years.

Joe finally gets his birdie on the Par 3, 5th Hole and just edges out Joe T for the "Closest to the Pin" cash. Thanks to EJ, Joe has been also getting in some good practice rounds but he continues to be short off the tee box.

ree

Nic’s long layoff did not hurt his putting as he was sinking putts like Michael Jordan was dunking basketballs.

On the front nine, we, as a group, shot a score of 48.

Back Nine Scores:

1st: Jake – 42 (40)

2nd: Rey – 43.5 (44)

3rd: Tim – 45 (40)

4th: Dave – 46 (43)

5th: Adam – 46.5 (52)

6th: Bryan – 47.5 (45)

6th: Cody – 47.5 (40)

6th: Matty Ice – 47.5 (54)

9th: Nic – 48.5 (55)

9Th: Rock – 48.5 (49)

11th: Joe – 52 (52)

12th: Joe T – 53 (53)

13th: EJ – 54.5 (69)

13th: Juan – 54.5 (58)

15th: Chris – 59.5 (60)

Jake was on fire the last 4 holes with 3 birdies and a par on the last hole that was a breath away from being another birdie.

As good as EJ and Joe looked on the front, is just how bad they looked on the back.

They reminded me of Cody when he first came to BJG, and he could only play nine-holes. I guess that's what happens when you only have time to practice nine holes.

And I have to tell you how impressed I am that Chris, our one-armed Bandit, only added 2 strokes to his back nine score. I saw Chris tee off with only one arm is it was pretty good.

Victory or Valhalla Final Score (Actual)

1st Place: Rey – 88 (89)

2nd Place: Jake – 89 (85)

3rd Place: Tim – 91 (81)

4th Place: Dave – 95 (89)

4th Place: Joe – 95 (95)

4th Place: EJ – 95 (124)

7th Place: Matty Ice – 96 (109)

7th Place: Rock – 96 (97)

9th Place: Adam – 97 (108)

9th Place: Cody – 97 (82)

9th Place: Nic – 97 (110)

12th Place: Bryan – 98 (93)

13th Place: Joe T – 100 (100)

14th Place: Juan – 103 (110)

15th Place: Chris – 117 (118)

Rey finally puts it all together for the big win. Jake shows that he still has something left in the tank after not having a great year. Tim said that he has never played that well….ever. Dave showed us that he can still play 80s golf and compete with the top players.

When I first saw the scores I was dumbfounded that a score of 98 would land you in the 12th spot…. WOW.

Once again, we had 9 total ties. I don’t know if you can ask for any more than that. Plus, to have the scores be so close at the end of the regular season is just icing on the cake.

20th Place: Harry – 18 points (57 points from 19th place)

Just 22 points separate our top 6 Golfers. In BJG history (8 years), I don’t think I have ever seen the scoring this close and with only one more event left in the regular season. I think it gives it that much more pressure because that last event is our final major, the BJG Championship and it is worth 5 times the number of points.

At the other end, Chris is doing everything he can to hold on to the 12th spot even though he can only hold on with one arm.

ree

Don’t count Juan out. Juan is our 2020 BJG Champion and will be leading us off for this final showdown. With the number of points that we are talking about, Juan could make his own move and claim that last spot for the playoffs.

ree

What Tim lacks in commitment; he makes up for in talent. Tim has been playing some great golf, and he too has been making a push for that final spot. Even Jake could have an amazing finish to somehow make the Playoffs.

This final major will crown our "Race to Big Y (Dubai) " winner with a big check and a $50.00 Gift Card to Big Y.

It will also identify our 12 Golfers that will move on to the Fed Up Cup Playoffs. And finally, this event will identify our two Captains for the BJG President’s Cup.

All in all, this is setting up to be a great end to the regular season.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe

Commissioner
