The BJG Championship will be played at AGAWAM MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE instead of THE RANCH GOLF COURSE.

Joe T called The Ranch early Sunday morning, and the best they could do for three tee times was 1:15 pm. While I did not expect prime tee times, 1:15 as a first tee time was too late for me, and Joe T agreed.

Looking to get tee times booked early, I quickly tried to think of courses that we had not played yet, and St Annes and Agawam, both regular staples on the annual BJG tour, came to mind.

St Annes had tee times around 10:30, and Agawam had tee times starting at 8:40

I did try to think of harder golf courses, but we already have Southampton, Topstone, and Chicopee on the schedule for the Playoffs. I did contemplate Keney Park, but Joe T reminded me they wanted their money upfront. Ledges was the same deal as Keney Park. Cold Springs and Mill Valley were too far north for Adam to drive at the last minute.

Yes, I know you are disappointed, but we just have to roll with the punches.

Even if we had taken the late tee times, we were still showing up with only nine golfers because we could not find any of our past golfers willing to pay $110 for a casual round of golf. I did find out later that Cam had lined up a couple more golfers, but I had already secured Agawam.

I had been studying The Ranch for the last ten days, and I was looking forward to playing The Ranch. While The Ranch would have been different and even a little special, the golf course is not what matters. What matters is that we are all competing on the same day, under the same conditions, and on the same golf course.

As I am sitting here writing “Breaking News” at 1am, I guess I could have chosen Tekoa, but in the span of 5 minutes at 10 am on a Sunday morning, I made what I thought was the best call, and that is why you pay me the big bucks as the Commissioner.

We have two weeks off after the BJG Championship and before the Fed Up Cup Playoffs. Those dates are 8/13 & 8/20. Maybe we can play The Ranch on one of those dates.
