Cody, our number one handicap golfer at BJG, has shown us how good he really is,... and we should all be afraid.
Cody had struggled a little under his +13 handicap last year and even the first three events of 2020 with his +10 handicap. Today, Cody left no doubt who the best golfer is at BJG. Cody is also welcomed to the 70’s club, a feat no other BJG golfer has yet to achieve. Cody is the 2020 Fathers and Uncles Invitational Champion.

Front Nine:
Cody – 37
Dave – 42

DNP - Juan
While Cody wins the event, Joe Willie is once again the bride’s maid. Joe and Chris get some much need points after taking the previous round off. Dave has a better round than last week and, Harry is looking good as the 2020 Rookie of the Year. Jake, Bryan, and Rock did not have the day they had hoped for while Adam, Dan, and Steve kept their scores under 100. Nic, Jon and Matt shoot decent scores but so far, they have not taken advantage of their high handicaps.

Joe Willie takes a huge 33.5 lead while just 11.5 points separate 2nd through 8th place. Harry jumps from 5th to 2nd. Bryan drops from 2nd to 3rd with Cody jumping from 8th to tie for 3rd with Bryan. Jake falls from 3rd to 5th. Joe & Dave flip flop spots with Joe now in 6th and Dave in 7th. Steve crashes from 4th to 8th. Adam and Rock change place with Adam now 10th and Rock 11th.
Near the cut line, just 10.5 points separate 11th, 12th, and 13th place. Juan took the week off, allowing Chris to go from 14th to 12th, and Juan now looking up to the cutline. Dan continues to hang out at 13th but he remains in striking distance.
Remember, there are only three more events for points with two of them being Majors. You need to be in the top 12 to move on to the Fed Up Cup so don’t wait to the last minute to “play better golf”.
Upcoming Events:
7/12/2020 – The Chubby Classic at Veterans Golf Course (maybe)
7/26/2020 – The American Freedom Open at Veterans Golf Course (maybe)
8/9/2020 – The BJG Championship at Franconia Golf Course (maybe)
Next Sunday is an off week but, because it is a three day weekend, I am putting together the “Championship of the World’ tournament that will be played on Sunday, July 5th at Pine Knoll Par 3 Golf Course in East Longmeadow starting at 10 am. This is a fun, non-stressful event and, we always have a good time. If we have all 17 golfers then points will be awarded, if not, then we will just play for the trophy and the “Championship of the World” belt. I will send out more information before the end of the week. Please let me lknow if you are playing so I know how much beer to buy.
Again, congratulations to Cody for his first Major win and shooting five over par 77. Cody has just put the rest of us on notice.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
