Jake had to forfeit because his vacation was extended at the last minute which gave Juan a chance to play.
Bryan texted me on Saturday to forfeit because he realized that he could not play the 2nd Round.
This gave Nic a spot in the 2020 Fed Up Cup. I called Nic and let him know that Bryan was out and that he was in. I also told him his new tee time was at 8:30, not 9:00.
Later on, Bryan asked for his 8:30 tee time bu,t I said no because I gave it to Nic and Bryan’s tee time was now 9:00.
Golfers were dropping like flies but, it happens every year for one reason or another and, it's not like there isn’t someone ready to take their place.
I specifically said that Joe Willie would be awarded his Big Check at 8:10 because I wanted to see who would show up, you know, comradery. Most of us were there but, the ones that weren't, ended up screwing up the tee times. (commitment).

Nic was picking up Matt and did not show up for his 8:30 tee time. Nic being late now meant that Chris, Dan, and Dave were going out as a threesome, not to mention the fireworks that were probably going to happen during "family time".
Group 2 was all there, so at least we have a foursome. 8:50 comes and, Group 3 is missing Cody. Cody thought his tee time was at 9:30. There goes another threesome. It is too bad that we don’t have a place where we can double-check our tee times, maybe we should get a web site….
Just in case you weren’t doing the math in your head, Group 4 is now playing five.
Front Nine:
Cody – 42
Dave - 45
Rock – 46
Nic – 49
Adam – 50
Joe – 50
Joe Willie – 50
Harry – 51
Chris – 53
Rey – 53
Juan – 54
Dan – 60
Cody, as expected, is playing well. Dave is trying to stay with Cody while Rock is trying to keep pace with Dave.
Nic is making the most of his last minute reprieve from being cut. Adam is hanging tough with Joe and Joe Willie.
Harry is a little off the pace. Chris, Rey and Juan are trying to grind it out and Dan is bringing up the rear.
Back Nine:
Cody – 37
Rock – 48
Dave – 52
Joe Willie – 53
Harry – 54
Chris – 55
Nic – 56
Dan – 56
Joe – 58
Rey – 58
Adam – 59
Juan – 61
On the back Cody goes on a tear, shooting all pars except for the lone bogey on the 17th hole. Rock continues to play well and is the only other player to shoot under 50 on the back. The rest of us are just trying to get through the day.
To add insult to injury, the sprinklers would go on just before our shots to the green.

Final Score (Actual Score)
1st Place: Cody 89 (79)
2nd Place: Rock – 94 (94)
3rd Place: Nic – 98 (105)
4th Place: Adam – 99 (109)
5th Place: Joe Willie – 102 (103)
6th Place: Dave – 104 (97)
7th Place: Harry – 105 (105)
8th Place: Chris – 108 (108)
8th Place: Joe 108 (108)
****Cut Line****
10th Place: Rey – 111 (111)
11th Place: Juan – 112 (115)
12th Place: Dan – 113 (116)
Cody coasts to another win and Rock reminds the rest of us that he is a past Fed Up Cup winner.
Nic, for the second week in a row plays well and, it couldn’t come at a better time (competition). Adam continues to get better week after week and, has a solid finish. Joe Willie, Dave and Harry, probably wanted a better finish but they are happy to be in the top 8. Chris and Joe end up sitting just above the cutline. This leaves Rey, Juan and Dan being cut but now moving on to the "Legends of Tomorrow (Losers of Today): The Battle for 9th Place" along with Steve, Jake, Matt and Jon.
Yes, it appears Joe Willie’s count was initially off, Harry’s final score was a 105, not a 100 and Joe’s final score was a 108, not a 109. Just what I needed, more drama.
Don’t blame Joe Willie for his counting ability. On the 18th hole, Joe is stung by wasps and Joe Willie was probably thinking more about Joe’s safety and not about taking off his shoes to get a good count.

After discussions with the Rules Committee Chairman, I decided that Joe should take one for the team and remain in 9th place. The reason being is that having a tie for 8th place only screws up the new “Legends of Tomorrow, Losers of Today – Battle for 9th Place”. Besides, Chris seemed to be so happy that he was finally able to beat Joe this year, how could I take that from him. The rest of the group also seemed quite happy to see Joe miss the cut, so Christmas came early for everyone except Joe.

While I am tired of writing it, and I’m sure you are tired of reading it, Cody has been playing very well, especially since we lowered his BJG handicap and, he is now comfortable shooting in the 70s. I just hope that the Handicap Committee is taking notice.
Just to recap, Cody has won:
The Champion of the World - Low Score,
The Fathers & Uncles Invitational (Major),
The American Freedom Open (Major
and now, the First Round of the Fed Up Cup
The system isn’t perfect and it happens, last year Dave won 2 Majors and the Race to Big Y (Dubai). I think we also saw something like this happen in 2016 when Leon won a bunch of events and was Golfer of the Year.
Look, you know what you have to do to beat Cody, play better golf. We can deal with the rest of it after this season is over. Try to stay focused.
I also want to say “Thank You” to Steve, Jake, and Bryan for stepping up, knowing that they could not compete in all 3 rounds of the Fed Up Cup and allowing the other golfers an opportunity that they would not have been afforded to them. While Rey and Juan failed to take advantage of the extra opportunity, Nic is moving to the 2nd round.
Congratulation to Cody and the other seven golfers for moving on to the 2nd Round of the Fed Up Cup. The next cut is four, so "play better golf".
Good luck.
