As of Jan 1st, 2021 there are only about 12 weeks until the start of the 2021 Broken Joe Golf season. That may seem like a lot of time, but there is a lot of work to do between now and then.

Those 12 weeks also include New Years', start of the NHL season, NFL Playoffs, Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine’s Day, and St Patty’s Day.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will send out the draft schedule, draft handicaps, draft rules, and draft budget and fees. After that, the committees will need to get to work as they take on a larger role at Broken Joe Golf in 2021.
The Plan:
The Commissioner creates the committees and their responsibilities.
The Commissioner staff each committee.
The Commissioner submits the draft 2021 BJG schedule
The Commissioner submits the draft 2021 BJG handicaps
The Commissioner submits the draft 2021 BJG rules
The Commissioner submits the 2021 BJG proposed budget and fees.
The Commissioner will meet with each Committee Chairperson in order to discuss the Commissioner's thoughts for the year as well as any specific issues that need to be addressed.
Each committee will meet and discuss their assigned responsibilities and using feedback from the rest of that group, the Chairman will submit their proposals at the Winter Meeting. (Sunday, March 14th, 2021 or at a date to be determined)
If the Winter Meeting cannot be arranged then the Committee Chairs, and the Commission will finalize the Schedule, Handicaps, Rules, Budget, and Fees for 2021. (Sunday, March 14th, 2021 or at a date to be determined)
2021 BJG Schedule Committee responsibilities:
Review the Commissioner’s proposed schedule and submit their final proposal to the Commissioner prior to the Winter Meeting.
Based on the schedule, make the Tee Times and
For all rounds except for the Four Majors and the Fed Up Cup Playoffs, the Committee Chair will randomly assign groups and cart assignments and then submit those assignments to the Commissioner no later than the Monday prior to the golf event.
The Commissioner will assign groups and carts for Majors based on the Leaderboard and the groupings/cart assignment for the Fed Up Cup Playoffs
The Scheduling Committee Chair will make the necessary changes to the groupings and cart assignment as needed.
The Scheduling Committee Chair will make the group aware of any changes to a golf event's location or times.
2021 BJG Handicap Committee responsibilities:
Review the Commissioner’s proposed handicaps and submit their final proposal to the Commissioner prior to the Winter Meeting.
The BJG Handicap Committee is responsible for adding up the scores after the round of golf and submitting the results to the Commissioner so he can award the trophy to the winner.
Based on the weekly scores, the BJG Handicap Chair, will review handicaps and working with the Commissioner, could make mid-season adjustments to those handicaps that are unreasonable.
The Handicap Committee Chair will share any updates or changes to the BJG handicaps.
2021 BJG Rules Committee responsibilities:
Review the Commissioner’s proposed rules and submit their final proposal to the Commissioner prior to the Winter Meeting. .
The Rules Committee Chair will be responsible to make an initial ruling on any rules violations and a penalty for that violation.
The Rules Committee Chair is the point of contact for any questions concerning the BJG Rules either before, during, or after a round of golf.
The Rules Committee Chair will assign a “rules official” for each grouping. Any and all issues or questions can still be brought up for a ruling after the round but need to be addressed before the final scores are completed at the golf course.
The Rules Committee Chair is responsible for any playoff in case of a tie and in accordance with the 2021 BJG rules.
The Finance Committee responsibilities:
The Finance Committee Chair will review the previous year’s budget and receipts.
The Finance Committee Chair will review and approve the new year’s budget.
The Finance Committee Chair will identify and collect all 2021 fees prior to the first round of the year.
The Finance Committee Chair will be responsible for the regular season’s weekly “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” as well as any other weekly challenge event. Submit “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” holes to the Commissioner on the Monday prior to the golf event.
Committee Members:
There are four committees, each committee will have four members.

“There is no power or authority without responsibility, and he who accepts the one cannot escape or evade the other.” Haile Selassie
Of course, if you feel that the role of the committees is too daunting a task, we can go back to the Commissioner's rule.

PS - At Thanksgiving I had asked for a list of potential new BJG members, including their average score and low scores but I have only heard from Adam. New members will have an impact on the tee times (schedule), handicaps and fees so please get that information out to me asap.
Also, I had asked "how far you hit your 5 iron?" but it would seem that you all got caught up in the Christmas spirit. In order to continue my research, please send me your 5 iron distance in a text. First one that responds will win a free "gift" while the last person to respond can host the 2021 Winter Meeting.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
Commissioner
