Once again the forecast for another round of BJG would be cold and wet. There was a 70 percent chance of rain and a high of 56 but the “feels like temperature" was going to be closer to 45 degrees. If you were smart, you would dress appropriately.
I knew that Tim and Matt T were not playing this week, but it would not affect the groupings.
Next, Joe T text me Saturday night, saying he could not make it for Sunday.
EJ and I get there early, around 8:30. As we get closer to the first tee time at 9:02, I am still missing Harry. I try to call him, but he ghosts me. It's time to start a game I like to call “musical groupings”. The first group is now Jake, Rock, and EJ.
9:20 rolls around, and I’m missing Juan. 2nd Group is now Matt, Bryan, and Adam.
9:31 comes, and I’m missing Dan and Dave. Group 4 is now Group 3 minus Jon, who is another no show but, he did text.
That just leaves Cody and Rey waiting at the clubhouse for their new 9:42 tee time. Matt said that Nic dog, Murph, was very sick so I don’t expect Nic. We all hope that Murph get better soon.
As I look back at the group behind me, I see that Dan & Dave team up with Cody and Rey to make a full foursome.
We now have 13 golfers on the course meaning, we are missing 7 golfers. What looked like a meager week for points just got a little more plentiful.
Front Nine:
It was gray and cloud but, so far the rain was holding off. I expected the hard rain to come sometime around 10:30 but, it looked like our golfers were ready for whatever Mother Nature was going to throw at us.
Front Nine Scores:
Jake leads the pack with a 41.
Cody is next with a 42, and that’s with a 9 on the 2nd hole.
Surprisingly, Joe also has a 42. His driver is straight, and he is rewarded with pars and bogeys.
Bryan has a 43, which includes a 7 on the 2nd hole
Rock makes the early top 5 with a 48. He also had trouble on the 2nd hole to earn himself an 8
Chris is at 50 at the turn, and that is with a big 9 on the 5th hole.
Another surprise is Dave with a 51. Dave had a pair of 8s on the 6th and 9th holes.
Adam is once again playing with confidence and has a 53, and his score also included an 8 on the 9th hole.
Rey shoots 53 but, his 8 comes from the 8th hole.
Dan closes out the front nine top 10 with a 56. Like most people, Dan has his 8 on the 9th hole.
Matt shots 58 with a par and 2 bogeys to go with his 8 and double nine. I did get a chance to witness Matt’s drive on the 9th hole. Matt is striking the ball well.
Dustin is having a tough day (we have all been there) and shoots a 68. Three 10s and a 9 will do that to your score.
EJ also shoots a 68 but, he does it with four 9s and an 8.
We still have not seen the rain that was promised to us, and in fact, it was starting to getting a little warm.
Back Nine Scores
Bryan plays one stroke better and finishes that back nine with a 42.
Dave really steps up his game shaking off his bad start to finish the back nine with the same 42 as Bryan.
Cody gains 2 strokes on the back and has a score of 44. Like the front, Cody has another bad hole, scoring an 8 on the last hole.
Joe gains 7 strokes on the back with the help of a 9 on the 10th hole. Hitting a tree twice doesn't help.
Adam rounds out the top five scores on the back nine by shaving 5 strokes off his front nine score with a 48. Very impressive.
Jake falls off his blistering pace to finish the back with a 50, nine shot more then the front.
Rey finishes the back with 3 fewer strokes than the front to score a 50.
Chris gains 3 strokes with a score of 53. The 7 on the par 3 14th hole is what probably put him over the century mark.
Dan saves 3 strokes and also shoots a 53 with no real blow-up holes.
Matt rounds out the top 10 back nine scores by takes one stroke off of his front nine score and finishing the back with a 57. This time Matt has 2 pars to go with his two 9s and an 8.
Rock struggles on the back nine gaining 10 strokes from his front score and, finishes the back with a 58.
Dustin plays much better on the back cutting 9 strokes from his front nine score to finish the back with a 59.
EJ gains a couple of stokes from his front score as he traded a couple of 9s for a couple of 10s.
EJ finishes the back with a 71.
The good news for us was that the Weatherman was wrong about the forecast and the rain and cold never show up. It ended up being cloudy but no rain and it only got chilly for acouple of holes on the back nine.

That is correct, we had a four-way tie for 1st place. It's time for a playoff.
Chris and Dave move us to the putting green and set up a hole in which we must make THE putt for the win. Chris declares that the first one to sink the putt will be declared the winner of the Chubby.
After 3 rounds of missing putts, you would not have thought that we were the best of the best. Finally, on the fourth go-round, Matt sinks the putt for the sweet taste of victory. The other 3 golfers will share 2nd place points.
