It was a beautiful day to play our final regular season round and Final Major.  We did save $12 on Green Fees because Cold Springs had aerated the greens.

When the day is over, we will know:

1.       The final Major winner.

2.       The Race to Big Y (Dubai) winner (Highest points winner at the end of the regular season

3.       The four golfers that will have a first-round bye

4.       The Matchups for the first round

5.       The first golfer to be cut from the Playoffs

6.       The two Captains for the Rider Cup.

James was playing in his Regional Golf Tournament and would miss this crucial round.  Mike hurt his back at the last minute and would have to sit out.  As EJ would say, “more free points”.

Front Nine:

1st:  Matt – 31 (40)

2nd:  Joe V – 35 (37)

3rd:  EJ – 36 (54)

3rd:  JT – 36 (41)

3rd:  Rob – 36 (45)

6th:  Joe T – 37 (49)

7th:  Joe – 39 (51)

8th:  Rey – 40 (50)

9th:  Adam – 41 (45)

10th:  Dustin – 43 (64)

11th:  Stephen – 44 (54)

Matt was killing the front nine with his straight drives and his one-putts.

It was good to see JT and Joe V at the top of the Leaderboard. JT and Joe V made birdies on the 4th hole, and JT made his second birdie on the 6th hole.

EJ and Rob were playing well and trying to get a jump on the open third and fourth spots.

The rest of us would have to start playing “better golf” or start thinking about the next round, knowing that 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, and an 11 would not cut it.

Even with the greens aerated, I thought the greens were still fast.

The easiest hole was the Par 5, 5th Hole, which played just under Par. The hardest holes on the front were the Par 5, 2nd Hole, and the Par 4, 8th Hole, both of which played almost two strokes over par.

As a group, we shot two over par, 38 (48).

Back Nine:

1st:  EJ – 35 (53)

1st:  Joe T – 35 (47)

3rd:  JT – 36 (42)

4th:  Matt – 37 (46)

4th:  Joe V – 37 (39)

6th:  Joe:  38 (51)

7th:  Adam – 40 (44)

8th:  Stephen – 41 (52)

9th:  Rey – 43 (54)

10th:  Dustin – 45 (63)

11th:  Rob – 46 (55)

EJ and Joe T are running neck and neck, knowing that with Mike out, two spots are open at the top of the leaderboard.  These two spots will also give you a first-round bye.

Matt falls off the pace just slightly, and JT and Joe V continue to play good golf. In fact, Joe V makes his second birdie of the day. On the other hand,..

Rey has trouble getting off the tee box, and his putting is terrible.  Dustin and Rob also find the back nine of Cold Springs difficult.  Again, 9s and 11s were not going to get the job done.

EJ and Joe T are not the only Golfers who know what is at stake at the end of this Major.  Joe knows he needs to keep Joe T close and not have another last place finish.

Adam and Stephen know they are heading to the first round of the Playoffs. They just need to know who they will play against.

The easiest hole was the Par 5, 16th Hole, which played one stroke over par.  The hardest hole on the back was the Par 4, 10th hole, which played 3.3 strokes over par.

As a group, we shot five strokes over Par, 40 (50), for a total score of 78 (98).

Final Score:

1st Place:  Matt – 68 (86)

2nd Place:  EJ – 71 (107)

3rd Place:  Joe T -72 (96)

3rd Place:  Joe V – 72 (76)

3rd Place:  JT – 72 (83)

6th Place:  Joe – 77 (102)

7th Place:  Adam – 81 (89)

8th Place:  Rob – 82 (100)

9th Place:  Rey – 83 (105)

10th Place:  Stephen – 85 (106)

11th Place:  Dustin – 88 (124)

Yes, some of the final scores were wrong on the scorecards.

BJG Championship Points:

1st Place:  Matt – 67

2nd Place:  EJ – 62

3rd Place:  Joe T -52

3rd Place:  Joe V – 52

3rd Place:  JT – 72 52

6th Place:  Joe – 41

7th Place:  Adam – 35

8th Place:  Rob – 31

9th Place:  Rey – 26

10th Place:  Stephen – 21

11th Place:  Dustin – 16

Final Fed Up Cup Points:

1st Place:  Matt – 291.5 Points

2nd Place:  Rey – 246.5 Points

3rd Place:  EJ – 228 Points

4th Place:  Joe – 210.5 Points

5th Place:  Joe T – 204.5 Points

6th Place:  Rob – 182 Points

7th Place: Mike – 173.5 Points

8th Place:  Dustin – 142 Points

9th Place: Adam – 139 Points

10th Place:  Stephen – 125 Points

11th Place:  JT – 115.5 Points

12th Place:  Joe V – 115 Points

13th Place:  James – 103 Points

Matt is not only our BJG Championship winner (plus $60) but also our Race to Big Y (Dubai) Champion. Rey clinched second place and received a first-round bye. Matt will receive his BIG CHECK and $50 Big Y gift card at his next event.

EJ easily takes the third spot. Joe T’s three-way tie did not help him, and Joe’s middle-of-the-pack finish allowed him to remain in fourth.  EJ and Joe will also have first-round byes.

At the other end of the Leaderboard, JT and Joe V took advantage of James's being out of State and finished the year at 11th and 12th, making James the 13th-place Golfer.

Adam and JT made some money by winning the Closest to the Pins.

Congratulations to Joe V and James as our Captains for the BJG Rider Cup, which will be held on October 20th, 2024. I will contact Joe V and James to pick their Teams and explain the rules.

The Playoffs start with Round One, the Northern Quilted Paper Championship on September 8th, 2024.

Again, please let me know if you will miss a week of the Playoffs or the Rider Cup.  I have heard from Joe T, Rob, Dustin and Matt.

And, just in case you missed this morning's text, James shot 14 under to win the Northern Regional Veterans Golf Association (VGA) Championship.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
