Yes, Mill Valley was Triple H – HOT, HUMID and HARD (or Humiliating, the choice is yours)
I had taken the week to scope out the course and drafted some notes for each hole. I even knew what club I was going to use for each hole.
The first thing I noticed when I arrived at Mill Valley is that the first hole was now a chipping area. Well, that’s going to be a problem because the 1st hole, Par 3 was going to be “closest to the pin”…
I go inside the new “pro shop” (very nice) and try to pay, but “no can do”, I must wait until it gets closer to my tee time. Interesting…
I ask the guy what’s the story with the first hole, and he explains that they changed the hole numbers. The old hole 1 is now a chipping area; the old 2nd hole is now the 10th hole. The 10th hole is now the first hole, and they have a new Par 3.
I grab a scorecard to see if I can make sense of this crazy world, but I can’t, so I throw my notes in the trash.
This also means that my high-speed, low drag golf watch is absolutely worthless because it tells me that the 1st hole is the Par 3. I throw my golf watch into the bottom of my golf bag. We are going old school, and I am now flying blind.
We finally get close to our tee times, and we can start to pay. Since we are missing four Golfers, we have 4 groups of three. Of course, the Pro Shop guy sees Jason alone in his cart and tells us “we can’t have no singles in a cart…” Well, that’s going to be a problem…
I have Jason jump in with Jake, and now the first group is a foursome, and the Pro Shop guy is all happy. Now we can have single carts. The new problem is we have 2 threesomes, and Group Four only has 2 Golfers. I am starting to get confused, and its not even that hot out yet.
As we pull up to the first tee, I put Dustin in with Group 2 and combine Group 3 and 4 to make the final grouping. Now we are 3 groups with 4 golfers.
Front Nine:
Dude, Where’s My Par: Cody is smoking the group again with his 42, and Jake is next with a 46. Dave is way back with a 51.
A Few Good Men: Jason jumps out front with a 42, Rey has a 48, Joe T has a 50, and bringing up the rear is Joe with a 53. This is Jason’s first week with BJG so welcome aboard.
Team Mediocrity: Since there is just Adam and Dan playing this week, they are going to get some nice points. Adam shoots a 60, and Dan has a 66.
Dumpster Fire: Dustin continues to roll along, shooting 57. Alex manages a 66, and EJ has a whopping 73.
As a group, the 2nd and 8th holes play the hardest at 2.8 over par. As a group average, we finish the front nine with a 54

Back Nine:
Dude, Where’s My Par: Dave makes a much-needed comeback with a couple of birdies and a score of 45. Cody has a good back nine with a 46, and Jake comes in with a 52.
A Few Good Men: Rey plays steady golf and shoots 55. Jason has some issues and shoots 56. Joe has some real problems on the 12th and 13th hole and finishes with a 60 (same as last week). Joe T has his own issues on the 16th hole and finishes with a 66.
Team Mediocrity: Adam continues to dominate and shoots 56 to Dan’s 63.
Dumpster Fire: Dustin matches his front nine scores with another 57. EJ plays better golf on the back and scores a 66. Alex has some issues with the 13th and 14th hole and finishes the back with a 75.
You would think the back, which is really the old front, would have been easier, but that wasn’t the case. As a group, holes 12, 13, 14, and 17 all played 3 over par. As a group average, we finished the back nine with a score of 58.
I won’t lie to you, after the round we had some issues that had to be discussed, and that I will need to addressed AGAIN in a future blog post, but I will deal with each of them over the next couple of weeks.
At the clubhouse, Cody went through the scorecards, and the Division winners were announced. And this time, we had all of the trophies this time.

Par 3 Scores:
Cody – 10
Jason – 15
Adam – 15
Adam – 17
Cody has won the Misters and the Green Jacket. This is also back-to-back BJG wins for Cody.

Of course, scores are not official until they are certified back at Broken Joe Golf World HQs

AND...

Cody’s scorecard had him with a 42 + 43 + 9 = 94 but the true score is 42 + 46 + 9 = 97.

This makes Dave the winner of his Division with a final score of 96. This also gives Dave the Misters victory with a Par 3 score of 12. This is Dave's second time winning The Misters (2019).

Sorry Cody, but you’re going to have to give me back that jacket and give Dave the trophy.
Jason, Joe T, and Alex’s back nine scores were also added wrong.
Jason’s card showed 43 + 57 = 100 but it is actually 43 + 56 = 99. (See Cody's scorecard)
Joe T’s scorecard had 50 + 62 = 112 but it was actually 50 + 64 = 114.

Alex’s scorecard had 66 + 74 = 140 but it was actually 66 + 75 = 141

I told you it was a hot and humid day. Some of us may even have had heat exhaustion.

With this win, Dave once again makes it a close race. Bryan is falling further behind,
A Few Good Men:

2nd Place: Joe – 14 Points
2nd Place: Rey – 14 Points
4th place: Joe T – 13 Points
Jason gets a big win, but again, the points are very tight. At this rate, someone is going to get their feels hurt.
Team Mediocrity
1st Place: Adam – 20 Points
2nd Place: Dan – 16 Points
3rd Place: Rock – 11 Points
4th Place: Juan – 5 Points
Juan has missed the bus and is way behind in this division. Adam is starting to pull away from Dan, but Dan pulling away from Rock.
Dumpster Fire
1st Place: Dustin – 24 Points
2nd Place: EJ – 15 Points
2nd Place: Alex – 15 Points
4th Place: Jon – 9 Points
Dustin is leaving his division in the "dust". EJ and Alex continue to battle it out. Jon needs a win to get back in the game.
Joe wins the closest to the pin. After they measured (twice) Joe somehow ended up with his ball and Dustin’s ball in his hand. Joe was so excited to finally win something that he did not realize he had to finish the hole. Fortunately for him, there is no penalty.
ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT OF A BALL ON A PUTTING GREEN:
Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1 are modified (2019 rule change) as follows:
When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.
The Longest Drive once again goes to Cody (#3)
The next event is a non-BJG event on June 5th at Franconia. It is scheduled as a 2 man scramble. Let Joe T know if you are interested in this event so he can make tee times. The idea is that instead of points you can win cash. Hell, I almost want to go back to Mill Valley and try to get my dignity back.
The next BJG event is the Woods Invitational at Ledges Golf Course in South Hadley on June 12th.
Respectfully,
