Cody vs Cam

ree

This went pretty much as we had thought. By the end of the first nine, Cam was down by 9. By the end of the 18th hole, Cam was down by 19. Winner Cody, 77 (87) to 96 (110)

Adam vs. Joe T

ree

Adam and Joe T feel the pain of the pin placements, and at the end of nine holes, Joe T is up by 3, 47 (59) to 50 (65).

By the 11th hole, Joe T is up by 5. After the 12th hole, Joe T is up by 6. After the 15th hole, Joe T is up by 7.

And then Adam feels the change of the wind as the earth rotates just a little slower...

After the 16th hole, Adam gets one back, and Joe T is up by 6. After the 17th hole, Adam gets 3 back, and Joe T is only up by 3.

Joe T feels it all slip away as he finishes with a 9 on the 18th hole to Adam’s 5, giving Adam the one-stroke victory to keep his playoff hopes alive, 86 (117) to 87 (112).

Jason vs Joe

ree

Joe has not had a great year, but he was determined to “play better golf” in the first round of the Playoffs. He was practicing 3 times a week and he even found a YouTube video to help him with his hip turn and follow-through when hitting his driver. Joe and EJ played a practice round at Southampton (which was not pretty).

Meanwhile, Jason has been playing GREAT golf. Jason has decided not to just pound the ball and now has much more command over his golf ball.

By the end of the front nine, Jason is up by 12, and that’s after Jason helped Joe find at least 6 of his lost balls.

At the turn, Joe abandons the driver and goes with his 5 wood. He is having much better success, plus Jason is tired of waiting on Joe to "play better golf" and he starts hammering his driver.

Joe loses a straight ball on the 18th, but this time his luck runs out and no one can find it. With golfers starting to back up on the 18 tee box, Joe sends another ball into the covert at the bottom of the hill. That’s two lost balls and 12 to finish the round.

Joe started out as the “Eye of the Tiger”, but ended up just having Pink Eye.

Jason the Ice Cream Man, served Joe a cold dessert as he soundly defeated Joe with a final score of 76 (94) to 86 (110).

EJ vs Dustin

ree

At the end of 9 holes, EJ shoots 36 (54) to Dustin’s 41 (59), and EJ is up by 5.

On the back nine, EJ and Dustin battled hard, with Dustin scoring a 41 (59) to EJ’s 42 (60), but the damage was already done on the front nine where holes 3 and 11 were not kind to Dustin.

EJ defeats Dustin by a score of 78 (114) to 82 (118).

It is no surprise that the 3rd hole played the hardest at 3.8 strokes over par and the 4th hole played the easiest at 1 stroke over par.

As a group, we shot a score of 108 and a handicap score of 83.

As I was putting the scores into the computer, I realized that the only correctly added scores were Cody's and Cam’s. As you know, scores are not official until they are finalized in the computer.

Final overall standing for the 1st Round of the FedUp Cup

Jason – 76 (94) **

Cody – 77 (87)

EJ – 78 (114)

Dustin – 82 (118)

Adam – 86 (117)

Joe – 86 (110)

Joe T – 87 (112)

Cam – 96 (110)

Yes, Jason is the winner of the 1st Round, not Cody. We will work on getting the trophy to Jason.

Congratulations to Jason, Cody, EJ, and Adam for moving on to the 2nd round of the Playoffs.

Next up is the 2nd Round of the Fed Up Cup, the AMC Championship on September 10th, 2023

For the loser, we will see you at the Legends of Tomorrow / The Losers of Today on September 10th, 2023. Right now, that is just Joe, and Dustin.

Joe T will just be coming back from vacation, so we probably will not see Joe T until the President’s Cup.

Cam has a wedding that he just found out about, so we will next see him at the President's Cup (maybe).

Both Adam and Cody said that Topstone Golf Course is VERY strict about the pace of play. After our last 5 hour round of golf, Topstone may not be the place for us during the Playoffs.

After having a long discussion with Cody, we will be heading to Goodwin Park Golf Course in Hartford, CT. The price is about the same as Topstone, we have not played there yet, and it is a little closer for Adam.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
