I knew on Saturday that Jake was out, so I moved Cody from Group 3 to Group 1, that way they would have 3 Golfers. Rey was already out because he was on "vacation".
On Sunday, it’s a beautiful day to be at EZ Mountain. It’s a little cloudy, and a little muggy but not hot. Of course, I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop...
Turns out Dave and Dan are late again. You would have thought they would have learned their lesson at the “Victory or Valhalla” event, but I guess not.
Everyone from Group 4 is here, including Jason. Jason had had a couple of drinks with some friends while he watched the UFC fight and managed to sleep through his alarm. Thankfully, Alex called Jason, and Jason, being a true competitor, was able to answer the bell, and still be early.
I left Cody to push the rest of the groups out.
Dave and Dan finally show up, but they don’t seem to be in a hurry. In fact, Dave comes out of the clubhouse at 8:16, but doesn’t make it to the tee box until after 8:22. Cody sends out Group 2, with Joe T instead of Dan.
Cody, Dave, and Bryan are now Group 3, and Adam, Dustin, and Dan are now Group 4.
Finally, everyone is on the course.
The group in front of us was a little slow, but it was really the fault of the group in front of them.
While it was a little slow, it wasn’t awful.
Front Nine Scores:
Cody – 38
Bryan – 42
Dave – 44
Joe – 45
Jason – 46
EJ – 46
Dan – 48
Joe T – 49
Juan – 52
Adam – 52
Dustin – 52
Alex – 60
Rock – 61
On the front, the 2nd hole (Par 4) was the hardest, playing at 2.5 strokes over Par. The easiest holes were the 3rd, 5th, 8th , and the 9th hole. Each played 1.2 over Par.
As a group, we had an average score of 49.
Most of the scores are surprisingly low, even with the greens being aerated.
Back Nine:
Due to a brain fart on the new Group one’s part, we move the “closest to the pin” from the 10th hole to the 17th hole.
The longest drive is on the 11th hole, but again, Group One is all over the place. Two are hard right and on the wrong side of the water, one is 300 yards to the left and up the hill, and the last one is high and to the left, again, somewhere on the hill.
It’s so bad, that Joe T has to drive to Group One to get the white marker to mark his group’s longest drive.
And now, it starts to rain. The rain isn’t enough to pull out the rain gear, but it is enough to get everything wet.
Fortunately, it doesn’t last long.
Back Nine Scores:
Dave – 40
Cody – 42
Juan – 47
Joe – 48
Dan – 48
Joe T – 49
Adam – 50
Bryan – 51
Alex – 52
Dustin – 53
Jason 54
EJ – 56
Rock – 56
The Par 4, 12th hole played the hardest on the back none at 2.3 strokes over Par. The Par 3, 13th hole played the easiest at just .9 over Par. As a Group, we had a score of 50 on the back nine, and a total score of 99.
We get back to the clubhouse, and Joe T and Rock are gone, off to watch some week one football.
Alex is tallying up the scores while I confer with Cody about how late Dave and Dan were. Dave obviously missed his tee time and I have to DQ him. Dave is upset, and he quits BJG while telling me he is going to call his father.
I have to admit, I was wondering if Dave’s dad would show up at my house to ask why his son was being picked on…

As Dave’s favorite Uncle, I wish he had reached out to me for a ride. Hell, I was at the Golf Course at 6:30 am and I had the last tee time.
After Dave walks away to text/call his father, Dan says to me, “I was here for my 8:27 tee time”. All I could think of was WOW, but if that was true, then Dan was good to go.
As Alex is figuring out the scores, we find another problem. It seems Dan’s name is on TWO different scorecards.
I have never seen or heard of this before. As it turns out, Dan played with Adam and Dustin for 6 holes and then decided to jump FORWARD and finish the last 12 holes with his brother’s group.
From what I understand, Adam & Dustin would not let Dan play in any of the reindeer games, so he moved from Group 4 to Group 3.

How he moved UP a group has me very confused. Either way, Cody told him that he can’t do that, and that he would be DQed. Big Surprise…

2nd Place: Dustin – 105 / 3 points
3rd Place: Alex – 112 / 2 points
With all of the craziness going on, I did not get a picture of the Division Winners (Cody, Joe, Juan, and EJ). It probably didn’t help that we did not have any of the Division Trophies anyway…
Par 3 scores for BJG Champion
1st Place: EJ – 15 (17-2)
2nd Place: Cody – 18
3rd Place: Joe – 20
4th Place: Juan – 22 (23-1)

Joe T wins the "Longest Drive. Adam told me at the Clubhouse that he was in the fairway, but he didn’t see the white marker where Joe T’s ball had landed. I guess we are going to need another (better) marker…
Broken Joe finally makes a little money by winning the "Closest to the Pin".
FINAL DIVISION STANDINGS:
Dude, Where’s My Par:
1st Place: Cody – 41 Points / Division Champion
2nd Place: Bryan – 27
3rd Place: Jake – 26
Dave – Quit
Had Dave not burned his BJG membership card, he would have moved on to the Wild Card round with 28 points. Instead, Jake will take his place.
A Few Good Men:
1st Place: Joe T – 40 Points / Division Champion
2nd Place: Joe – 34 Points
3rd Place: Jason – 30 Points
4th Place: Rey – 29 Points
Team Mediocre:
1st Place: Adam – 43 Points / Division Champion
2nd Place: Juan – 26 Points
3rd Place: Dan – 24 Points
4th Place: Rock – 22 Points
*** Note: As I was writing this blog post, I realized that Dan said he wasn’t late for his 8:27 tee time… Turns out, Dan’s tee time was 8:21 (Group 2) so I have to DQ Dan twice *** Either way, Dan has enough points to move to the Wild Card Weekend and Rock is out, waiting for the "Legends of Tomorrow".
Out of 12 events, including the Winter Meeting, Juan in a Million missed 6 events. It amazes me that he still managed to come in 2nd place, and move on to the playoffs.
Dumpster Fire:
1st Place: Dustin – 44 Points / Division Champion
2nd Place: EJ – 41 Points
3rd Place: Alex – 35 Points
As it currently stands:
As Division Champions, Cody, Joe T, Adam & Dustin will play for the Race to Big Y (Dubai) Big Check.
Dude, Where’s My Par, Wildcard Match Up: Bryan vs Jake
A Few Good Men, Wildcard Match Up: Joe vs Jason
Team Mediocre, Wildcard Match Up: Juan vs Dan
Dumpster Fire, Wildcard Match Up: EJ vs Alex
Moving on to the “Legends of Tomorrow, Losers of Today”:
Rey and Rock
As you may remember, the Team Captains for the Rider Cup are the 2 last-place Golfers of the season. That means that our 2022 BJG Rider Cup Captains are Rey from “A Few Good Men” and Rock from “Team Mediocre”
Don’t forget, Wildcard Sunday is NEXT Sunday (9/18/22) along with the Race to Big Y (Dubai) Big Check event.
I’ll see most of you next Sunday. Don’t be late, and bring back the Division Trophies… please.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
Commissioner
