Sunday started as any other typical Broken Joe Golf day.

Dave called in saying his tummy hurt, and Dan just found out his wife wasn't home, and he didn’t have a babysitter.

Jake had texted me on Saturday saying that he was playing in a hockey tournament on Sunday, and Jason was in Georgia.

Now we only need 3 Tee Times...

I re-work the groups, and off we go.

Front Nine:

Cody – 39

Rey – 45

Bryan – 48

Juan – 48

Joe – 50

Adam – 51

Rock – 53

Joe T – 55

Dustin – 58

EJ – 60

Alex – 62

Cody is playing great golf, he has 4 Pars, a Birdie, and an Eagle. In fact, Cody drove the green on the Par 4, 8th hole and it was that close to being a hole in one..

ree

Bryan has a tough start and manages to get an 8 on the 2nd hole.

Rey makes 4 of his own Pars, and if not for the 8 on the 6th hole, Rey may have been in the 30s with Cody. Joe and Joe T had some real trouble with the first 3 holes before they settled in for the long day.

Team Mediocrity each get a par, and the scores are close heading to the back nine.

Team Dumpster Fire each has a 10, and a bunch of 8s, but it is still a close match.

As a group, the hardest hole on the front is the 2nd hole. The 2nd hole played almost 3 strokes over par.

As a group, the easiest hole on the front was the 8th hole which played just one stroke over par.

As a group, we shot a 52 on the front.

Back Nine:

Cody - 42

Joe T – 43

Bryan – 48

Joe – 48

Rock – 49

Rey – 51

Adam – 53

Juan – 54

Dustin – 58

EJ – 60

Alex – 63

Cody continues to play well with his 4 pars.

Joe T makes a huge comeback on the back nine with 2 pars and 7 bogeys. Joe T has taken 12 strokes off his front nine score. Rey finds himself with a 10 on the long Par 5, 12th hole. Joe somehow manages to take 2 strokes off his front nine score but for the third round in a row, it was not pretty.

Team Mediocrity each has an 8 on the back nine. Rock shaves off 4 strokes, but he still has to give up 3 strokes to his division rivals.

Team Dumpster Fires scores pretty much look the same as the front with each golfer getting a 10 and an 8.

The hardest hole on the back nine is the Par 3, 18th hole, playing at 2.5 strokes over par.

The easiest hole is the Par 4, 16th hole, playing at just 1.1 strokes over par.

As a group, we shot a 52 on the back nine. For those of you with your shoes still on, that is a score of average score of 104.

Juan - 21 (22-1)

Cody and Rey battle it out during the putt off.

ree

And after 7 round, Cody is declared the 2022 American Freedom Open winner.

This was the week where you had to make a move if you were even dreaming about taking the division championship. Most of us failed miserably, except for Rey. Rey did what he needed to do to close the gap in his division.

BJG / NGL Division Standings

Dude, Where’s My Par

1st Place: Cody – 35 Points

2nd Place: Dave – 28 Points

3rd Place: Jake – 23 Points

4th Place: Bryan – 20 Points

Mathematically Dave has the slimmest chance to win the division, but he would need to win the last 2 rounds, and Cody would need to come in last in both rounds.

Jake left the door wide open, and Bryan has closed the gap to just 3 points for the second wild-card spot.

A Few Good Men

1st Place: Joe T – 34 Points

2nd Place: Rey - 29 Points

3rd Place: Joe – 26 Points

4th Place: Jason – 24 Points

Rey made a great push and is now just 5 points behind Joe T for the division lead.

Joe and Jason are fighting for the last wild card spot.

Team Mediocrity

1st Place: Adam – 36 Points

2nd Place: Dan – 24 Points

3rd Place: Juan – 20 Points

3rd Place: Rock – 20 Points

Adam has locked down the Division Championship, and now we just wait to see who will make the wild card spots. Juan has done the impossible. Juan missed the Winter Meeting and 4 rounds of golf, yet here he is, tied for 3rd with 2 rounds to go. Anyone of the three has a chance, but there is only room for two to move on.

Dumpster Fire

1st Place: Dustin – 41 Points

2nd Place: EJ – 31 Points

3rd Place: Alex – 30 Points

Dustin has locked down the Division Championship. EJ and Alex have made it to the wild card round. The next 2 rounds will be practice for them before entering the Playoffs.

It will be interesting to see over the next 2 rounds who will make the Wild Card round and who will be on the outside looking in. Those who don’t make the cut will be the first Golfers heading to the "Legends of Tomorrow, Losers of Today" tournament.

Next on the schedule is "Victory or Valhalla" at Edgewood Golf Course in Southwick on August 28th.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
