Before I go into the Trivia Game, I want to talk about Broken Joe Golf.

First, I had heard rumors that Steve was not playing golf with us in 2021. I finally texted Steve and confirmed that he would be moving on to other things. It was an odd situation, I almost felt like he wanted to say “It's not you, it's me”. Steve is a great guy and a real competitor.

From all of us at BJG, we wish you “fair wind and following seas”. And just know that you are always welcome back to BJG. Hell, we won't even charge you the “new member” rate.

Second, the 2021 Draft BJG schedule is out but, I have only heard from a couple of people, one good and one bad.

Bad - Dustin, who was supposed to join us in 2021, but he works on Saturdays. If the Majors are moved to Saturdays, then there is no sense for Dustin to trying and compete.

Good – Now that Matt has found an actual female companion, he has graciously offered their place for a BBQ on a Saturday after a Major. We just need three more volunteers.

Third, if you have any comments, suggestions, or concerns about the 2021 BJG schedule, please reach out to someone on the Scheduling Committee. You can also call or send me a text and, I will pass your information on to Rock.

And now back to Trivia Game One: (and some insight to what its like to be the BJG Commissioner) - Question – “What year was the very first Masters tournament held? Answer – 1934.

1. Chris was the first to answer the question at 8:11. His answer was “1921”. I had the opportunity to talk to Chris later that day about his answer. It seems that while Chris was on the Dark Web, on his AOL account, looking for “love in all of the wrong places”, he went to the “Ask Jeeves” search engine instead of Google. After I had finished making fun of him, he sent me proof of his answer. Unfortunately, I cannot accept that a website called “mybucketlist” knows anything about golf.

2. Bryan texted me next at 8:18. His answer was 230ish. I was confused and thought I was having a stroke for a minute but then I realized that Bryan was answering the "5 iron" question that I had asked on Jan 3rd. That would make Bryan’s answer about 17 days late. As I did the math, I realized that Bryan’s answer concerning the “Master’s” question should be to me by Feb 6th. On a much more positive note, Bryan has offered to host the 2021 BJG Annual Meeting. Thank you, Bryan.

3. Cody was next at 8:21. His answer was 2015. I have to be honest with you, reading Cody’s odd answer, I started to wonder if I was in the Twilight Zone or if the stroke had returned. 2015? Really? Are you using Chris’s AOL account….?

4. Dave was next at 8:57 and, his answer was 2017. WHAT???? Did you use the computer immediately after Cody???? Did the 5 look like a 7????

5. Adam was next at 9:07 and, his answer was 1934. Ding, Ding, we have a winner and my faith in humanity (and Google) had been restored.

6. Matt was next at 9:08 and, his answer was 1934. Matt, you were almost a winner.

7. Dan was next at 9:12. When I saw Dan had answered the question, I was just happy to know that he was still alive. Of course, once I read his answer of “2017”, I thought “twins really do have some kind of ESP”. It was that or I don’t know how to ask a trivia question…

8. Joe Willie was next at 9:16 and, his answer was 1934. Correct answer but a little late.

9. Steve was next at 9:38 with the correct answer of 1934. As I was writing this blog, knowing that Steve was out of BJG, yet he still wanted the golf balls that he won a couple of weeks ago. That could only mean that Steve was still playing golf, just not with us.

10. Juan was last to answer the question at 11:28 with the correct answer of 1934.

That left Jake, Harry, Rock, Rey, Jon, and Nic to bring us pizza for the BJG Annual Meeting. At least we should eat well.

I don’t blame Harry, Jon, or Nic for not responding, at this point they probably have their phones turned off. Ding, Ding, DING.

Congratulations to Adam, you have a won a Konday Golf Swing bag. This bag will help you with your "hands first" golf swing. You will have to fill the bag...

Just as an FYI, I am almost finished with the Draft BJG Handicaps. This was harder than I thought it would be. I am truly glad that I am not on the Handicap Committee.

Respectfully

Commissioner
