Round One: Northern Quilted Paper Championship

Until 2021, Northern Trust sponsored the PGA’s first round of the FedEx Cup. At BJG, our Fed Up Cup first round is the Northern Quilted Paper Championship.  Do you remember 2020 when people were hoarding toilet paper, which was worth more than gold?

The first cut of the 2024 Fed Up Cup Playoffs is the deepest and, for James, who finished 13th, maybe the most painful.

Hopefully, we will see James at the Legends of Tomorrow / Losers of Today.

Now, let’s look at the seedings.

5th Place: Joe T vs 12th Place: Joe V

6th Place: Rob vs 11th Place: JT

7th Place: Mike vs 10th Place: Stephen

8th Place: Dustin vs 9th Place: Adam

Unfortunately, Joe T and Rob cannot play in the first round, so they will move directly to the Legends of Tomorrow / Loser of Today with James.

The first round of the Playoffs will be played at East Mountain Country Club—I mean Westover Golf Course—I mean Chicopee Country Club, 290 Burnett Rd, Chicopee, MA 01020. The green fee is $42.00, but I have no idea what the carts cost…

Yes, we should be playing at Franconia Golf Course, but Joe T thought it was best to play there for the Chubby Classic and the single points.

BUT WAIT...

Houston, we have a problem...

On Monday afternoon, Joe V texted us that his injury may sideline him for the rest of the season. First, we all hope that Joe V is pain-free very soon. Next, I think to myself, James is back in the playoffs...

Not so fast, my friend,...

Four minutes later, Dustin is out of the playoff rounds because he has a wedding schedule for the Fed Up Cup Finals, giving Adam an easy way to the second round. I guess Dustin figured that if he won the first two rounds of the Playoffs, he would not be able to play in the Finals anyway.

Ok, new plan...

We are still playing at Chicopee Country Club, 290 Burnett Rd, Chicopee, MA 01020.I cannot even remember the last time BJG played there.

Cart One: Mike vs Stephen

Group Two 8:23 AM

Cart Three: JT & Adam

Cart Four: EJ

JT and Adam must complete the round to advance to the second Round. Mike and Stephen are playing to see who advances to the second Round and who will be playing in the Legends of Tomorrow.

Right now, we should have SEVEN golfers playing in the Second round and FOUR golfers in the Legends of Tomorrow, with Joe V and Dustin out of the playoffs.

Weather: Sunday should be partly to mostly sunny, with a low of 53 degrees and a high of 72 degrees. Winds will be to the north at 5 to 10 mph. There is a 40% chance of rain.
