Two years ago, Dan, Adam, and Jon were the Captains for the first 2018 BJG Rider Cup. Team Dan got their ass kicked, and Jon and Adam teams were tied after 18 holes. Team Adam won the play-off hole for the victory.

What has changed in those two years? Well, for Jon, nothing. Jon is still a Captain for the Rider Cup and was on the wrong end of an ass-whooping. Of course, it didn’t help that Jon’s team only had six players compared to Matt’s eight players, plus we were playing at Cold Springs.

I knew Cold Springs had a tournament before our tee times, but I didn’t expect them to still be in the parking lot when I arrived.

You would have thought the guy at the desk would have said something when I paid my green’s fee, but he was like “you are all set”.

The cool temperatures and the fog probably delayed the start of the charity tournament.

Everyone but Jake was pretty much on-site when we moved to the first tee box. There was a little bit of a delay getting everyone a cart, but it did not take too long. Chris showed up wearing the latest trend in fashion and no, it did not help his 2020 golf game.

Three of our groups were on the first tee box when it looked like the tournament people were starting to show up. I guess they will have to wait.

Front Nine:

Team Matt – Group Two (Joe, Bryan, Adam & Juan) – 3 birdies, 5 pars, and 1 bogey = 34 (-2)

Team Matt – Group One (Dave, Rey, Matt & Nic) – 2 birdies, 4 Pars, and 3 bogeys = 37 (+1)

Team Jon -Group A (Rock, Chris, and Dan) – 1 birdie, 6 pars, and 2 bogeys = 37 (+1)

Team Jon – Group B (Jake, Harry & Jon) – 1 birdie, 6 pars, and 2 bogeys = 37 (+1)

The front nine was pretty open and you needed to take advantage of that. The back can be narrow with lots of trees along with elevation challenges and doglegs.

Back Nine:

Team Matt – Group Two (Joe, Bryan, Adam & Juan) – 4 birdies, 3 pars, and 2 bogeys = 33 (-2)

Team Matt – Group One (Dave, Rey, Matt & Nic) – 1 birdie and 8 Pars = 34 (-1)

Team Jon -Group A (Rock, Chris, and Dan) – 1 birdie, 4 pars, 2 bogeys, and a double-bogey = 38 (+3)

Team Jon – Group B (Jake, Harry & Jon) – 6 pars and 3 bogeys = 38 (+3)

For Team Jon, the back nine proved too much to handle.

Final Group Scores:

Team Matt – Group Two (Joe, Bryan, Adam & Juan) - 67 (-4)

Team Matt – Group One (Dave, Rey, Matt & Nic) – 71 (Even)

Team Jon -Group A (Rock, Chris, and Dan) – 75 (+4)

Team Jon – Group B (Jake, Harry & Jon) – 75 (+4)

Final Score

Team Matt – 138

Team Jon – 150 (+12)

Just a little trivia, Adam and Bryan are 2-0 playing in the Rider Cup.

Congratulations to Team Matt and his players, Adam, Bryan, Dave, Joe, Juan, Nic, and Rey. We will do the Rider Cup Medal awards before we start the Winter Classic Championship at St Annes on Oct 18th, 2020.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe
