As you know from reading the blog, the 2021 BJG Schedule was posted on February 18th, 2022.

It clearly said that the BJG Winter Meeting would be held on March 27th, 2022.

So, you can imagine my surprise when Dan texted us that in some kind of twisted fate, his son’s birthday was also on that very same day. Maybe it was a surprise birthday party…

But Dan was not the only member of BJG to wake up on the day of the BJG meeting dealing with their own fate with destiny. Four hours before the BJG meeting, Rey too got a last-minute phone calling saying “baseball season had started” which meant that Rey would have to miss our meeting.

ree

Wait, there is still one more story to share… In an odd text to the group, just 2.5 hours before the meeting, Juan told Matt that he would Venmo him $30.00…???? The question in most of our minds was why. Juan owed Matt $20 for March Madness and $10.00 to Dan to pay for the meeting… Odd, wouldn’t you agree?

Of course, when the meeting kicked off at Noon and Juan was a no-show, it all started to make some sense… I guess.

It should be noted that the last two Golfers that “ghosted” me are no longer with BJG.

2022 Winter Meeting

The Commissioner started the meeting by talking about the issues with handicaps and introducing, for the second time, the National Golf League. To limit the need for large handicaps, we will play within divisions like the NFL.

ree

Cody was up next and talked about the 2022 BJG Rules. There are a couple of major changes, and it did create some “discussions”. One of the things we will talk about is the Putt Off.

ree

Next was a break with each division discussing handicaps. For the handicaps to be finalized, there had to be a unanimous vote or the Commissioner would have the final say.

In a surprising move, "Team Mediocrity" (East Division) (Adam, Chris, Dan, and no-show Juan) all voted to NOT have any handicaps. Very impressive indeed. Now they really will need to “play better golf”.

The "Few Good Men" (South Division), Joe T wanted Rock to have a -2 handicap while Rock and Joe were good with the -3. Minus 3 it is since there was not a unanimous vote.

The "Dumper Fire" (West Division) decided their name, but they could not unanimously decide on handicaps. EJ gets to keep his -4.

"Dude, where's my Par" (North Division) were good with Cody having a +9 handicap.

ree

Joe T was up next where he talked about the schedule, tee times, longest drive, and closest to the pin.

ree

It was decided that we would pay the weekly $5.00 for longest drive and closest to the pin before the start of the season. , this way we are not chasing money just before our tee times. There are 9 regular season rounds times $5.00 = an additional $40.00. That is if you are competing in the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. I will text you when I found out who will be collecting that money.

The Commissioner ended the meeting with a quick wrap up and then we had our final social half hour with cupcakes that my wife made for us.

ree

Overall it was pretty good meeting. Maybe a little bit too much talking instead of listening, but there were some good questions and comments. The Competition Committee will look at these questions and comments and come up with an initial plan.

Don't forget - BJG Fees are due by Saturday, April 9th 2022 ($60.00). Rey and Juan, add another $10. Alex -$80.

Next up on the schedule is the Pan Am - PRO AM, AM (AM) on Sunday, April 10th at Chicopee CC. I just hope it doesn't rain.

Respectfully,

Broken Joe

Commissioner
